Who’s suggesting a draft pick will “save the team”??? I may have missed that post.

I believe in freedom of opinion. Apparently some here don’t. Insinuating someone “isn’t a real fan” because they can smell a top 5 pick this summer is hyperbole. If you want to root for a 7 game win streak in the coming weeks so the players feel some sort of confidence going into the summer, then so be it. Cheer away. It doesn’t make you anymore of a fan than the rest of us.

Yea and don't show up draft day, saying they wish they had a higher pick.:sarcasm:

I'm wondering if the NHL will pull a fast one like they did with Chicago post kane and toews era. Team went from 3rd to 1st overall. we have a 19% chance to jump to a top 2 pick.

Would be interesting to see the conspiracy theorists if Boston jumps up.

Its more likely we will hit the 21% chance to drop to 6th OV lol.

You actually are. Also, thinking that some draft pick is going to "save" the franchise is ridiculous.

Oilers built a new rink and Jumped up to McDavid.Bettman said ,I will fill that place lol That is conspiracy stuff if anything ever would be worthy .

If the draft lottery were rigged I’d guess Chicago would once again get 1st overall so they could draft Schaefer. Chicago is a big market.

Aren’t there rules preventing teams from drafting 1st overall too often within a timeframe? Also can the same team draft 1st overall in back to back years?

This

The draft pick, to me, is an appetizer to what will be a very busy offseason. I’m very excited to add a potential high end talent that will help the team in the near future. I don’t think anyone should think this kid they get is going to come in right away and change things.

So just to clarify you’re hoping they go like 5-2 and pick 9th? Just so you can see some wins in meaningless games?
I’m not Ali, but I do believe I understand (to an extent) where she’s coming from.

It’s not about the record right now. The record sucks. They’re finishing in the bottom of the NHL. It’s a cinch.

It’s the whooping and hollering for every goal against. It’s the lack of effort to even attempt to be competitive. It’s the same shit we’d be laughing at Habs fans for doing if the situations were reversed.

Finishing with a higher pick doesn’t guarantee anything other than more options at the time of choosing. It would be one thing if we saw a team fighting for wins and coming up short, but seeing flashes of potential for the coming year. But I’m not doing cartwheels watching the team getting f***ed in the ass 7-2 every god damn game.

I’m also a Browns fan who saw a bunch of Clevelanders throw a parade for an 0-16 season. It’s embarrassing. And that was with a 1OA pick waiting in a sport where the draft is far more consequential and easier to find contributors.

This place is almost my entire social media…. Presence, if you will. It’s difficult to engage with fellow fans who are blasting confetti at every embarrassing f***up and every lousy goal against.

It just sucks.

If it happened in next years draft I could easily see the conspiracy theories. I don't see this year as a "slam dunk" 1st overall kind of year so seems less likely.

I agree with you but honestly I’m not doing that and won’t. I just would like them to have as good of a chance as possible to land a decent player and unfortunately that involves losing

The way I look at it is sometimes, like this time, you have to take a step back in order to go forward.
There is literally nothing to be gained by winning more games this year. There is however a better opportunity to gain something in this worthless year by losing out.
Will it be the be all and end all? Hell no. But you simply gotta start somewhere.

Tough pill to swallow. But thats the reality.

Whats the quickest and most likely way to get young talent on the team? Draft high. What do the Bruins sorely lack? Young offensive talent. What haven't the Bruins done in years? Draft high.
Zach Hamill was last time they used their own pick at 7 ? Been so long I can't remember what our own top picks were

Everyone and their dog was saying take Connor with 1 of those 3 picks.I never liked the Zboril pick either having saw a crapload of him b4 that draft
My dog never said that.

I was against the Zboril selection from the beginning.

Kirk Luedeke raised red flags about effort and hockey sense on draft day.

It's also apparent that they were not prepared with a plan b when plan a blew up in their faces.

That's called a rookie mistake.

Sweeney still can't draft terribly well, but things have gotten better in the intervening decade. They hit on a few. Matthew being one of them in my book. Though matters have become cloudy in that instance.

I disagree. I actually see the effort (most nights). I think the roster just flat out sucks. Me personally I’m rooting for them to win as the game is being played. I just don’t get disappointed now when they lose. A top 5 draft pick is a small step in the right direction.
