Prospect Info: Draft 2025 - Waiting for the Draft Lotto

Okay so you're just stupid, thanks for clarifying.

Not losing more down the stretch has 0 to do with the lottery today. If anything, you should hope they won a few more games so they would have won the lottery.

Had they won 2 more games down the stretch, they would be picking #1 instead of #11.

Winning the lottery was a pipe dream. Ya it would be nice but guaranteeing a top 7/8 pick in this draft was crucial. Winning down the stretch killed that. Some of you morons will be rooting for the pens to finish 12th next year to up their chances at McKenna

Well, at least the team didn't miss out on McKenna or Dupont by one lotto ball.

Still sucks absolute shit to go from an already disappointing 9th overall to 11th. Significant guys were probably already out of reach at 9 but there's really no way now imo.

The Pens are gonna be in the lottery for the next like 4-5 years. Dropping to #11 is annoying but calling it a disaster is jokes

This is the Penguins' Chernobyl moment and all the players are going to grow extra testicles so big they can't even skate any more. We're doomed.

1 - NY Islanders -
2 - San Jose -
3 - Chicago -
4 - Utah -
5 - Nashville -
6 - Philadelphia -
7 - Boston -
8 - Seattle -
9 - Buffalo -
10 - Anaheim -
11 - Pittsburgh -
12 - NY Rangers -

For your mock draft posting purposes.

Which is why your post is stupid. Responding with "they should have lost more" to the #10 team and the #14 team winning the draft lottery is pure idiocy.

They were closer in the standings to picking #1 (3 more points to jump the Islanders) than they were to picking #6 (5 fewer points to fall below the Flyers). It was effectively impossible for them to pick higher than #6 due to how the draft lottery played out.

1 - NY Islanders - Schaeffer (I don't think this changes)
2 - San Jose - Misa
3 - Chicago - Hagens
4 - Utah - Martone
5 - Nashville - Frondell
6 - Philadelphia - Desnoyers
7 - Boston - McQueen
8 - Seattle - Mrtka
9 - Buffalo - Eklund
10 - Anaheim - Martin
11 - Pittsburgh - O'Brien
12 - NY Rangers - Smith or Aitcheson

Pens will draft what they consider the best player. Look not sure if Martin is there or O'Brien for that matter. Just see what happens. But Rangers at 12 still comes down to giving the Pens the pick or keeping it,

The Pens had a less than 2% chance to drop two spots. Trying to play the blame game is called cope. It was just unlucky, they do that draft 50 times over and the Pens don't drop 2 spots in any of them and they finish higher than 9 in over a handful. Shit happens.

If the Rangers give the Pens the pick and we just go by McKenzie's rankings the Pens would draft Martin and Mrtka. That's still decent.
Ands given our need at center and defense, I think this would be incredibly reasonable even if my preference is another forward.

That said, Seattle moving back to 8 almost ensures they take Mrtka or Smith/Aitcheson IMO. I thought 5/6/7 was too high for them but 8 isn't a reach given the options.
