On the one hand yes on the other hand the funny thing about all the whining is we were literally 18% with the last ball to pick first overall despite being originally slotted at 9th.

Shows why hoping for lottery balls to bounce your way is a questionable team building strategy.
Yes, people need to remember this for next year's draft,

The argument for losing more really would be that had we done so we would have protected our draft slot better. For example Boston got f***ed hard and lost two slots in this draft but they're only dropping from 7th to 5th.

That being said, we've got 1 (maybe two) picks in the top 13. Hopefully our scouts find something there.

Tbh I think this lottery screwed the guys picking at #4/5/6 far more than it screwed the Penguins. I think there's a pretty clear drop from Martone/Hagens to O'Brien/Martin/Eklund and I think this draft just pushed 2 teams in that.

No you're just a moron. How does 2 teams with better records than the Penguins winning the draft lottery mean that they should have lost more down the line?

Had they lost more and finished with the #6 pick, they would have still dropped 2 spots to be picking #8 because of the lottery today.

Newsflash 8 would be better than 11. So would 3-7

As far as the Rangers pick goes if they give it to us I hope we keep it and just make two picks. I'd rather have two players in the system than one. Maybe it'd be worth packaging to move up if it mean a Hagens or someone like that but I don't see that being likely.

Like I'm not packaging those two picks just to pick Eklund or O'Brien or someone like that.

Okay so you're just stupid, thanks for clarifying.

Not losing more down the stretch has 0 to do with the lottery today. If anything, you should hope they won a few more games so they would have won the lottery.

Had they won 2 more games down the stretch, they would be picking #1 instead of #11.

I do enjoy that this result massively f***ed over the Bruins who did an absolutely shameful tank down the stretch. I loathe that team to begin with and to see them get screwed by the lottery brings me no end of joy.

Again, why are people saying "the Penguins should have lost more to end the season" when two teams with better records than the Penguins won the draft lottery?
Because winning games isn't the same as f***ing losing them? That's like saying they should have just won all 82 and made the POs. Also, dropping from 5th to 7th is way better than 9th to 11th.

It's not that f***ing hard to understand.

I think at this point we hope that McQueen and Mrtka go in the top-10 and one of Eklund or Martin falls to #11. I also wonder if the Rangers losing a slot in this draft makes them more inclined to give up their pick this year than next year, although I'll admit I kinda want them to hand it over next year instead of this year with it falling a spot.
