Prospect Info: Draft 2025 - Waiting for the Draft Lotto

I honestly hope Martin has a few screw-ups because at this rate he’ll be gone before we pick.

He reminds me of Shane Doan. Even has that kinda.. let’s say naive country boy personality.

I don’t think it matters. He was 12 on McKenzie’s list.. he’s not moving up 4 spots on consensus from now until the draft.

If he goes before our pick it’ll be some team that was always high on him and has him like 5th on their board.

I really like Reschny too. More than Kindel, and probably more than O’Brien. He is very comparable to Hagens I think.

That Martin hit reminds me so much of this Malkin hit.

Feel free to question his upside but I sure as hell won’t be upset if the Penguins draft him with their pick. Going to be a really fun player to watch.

1. Hard to tell how late the hit is when the clip provided is slowed down.
2. Love, love, LOVED that Geno hit.
Yeah that is an all-time favorite Pens hit.

I get the sense that the centers are going to fly off the board in the top 10 this year. Hopefully, we get lucky tomorrow night in the lottery. I have a bad feeling either Boston or Philly is going to move up to at least No. 2. Just a bad hunch.

After watching Jackson Smith play last night, he is a very nice consolation prize if the centers do indeed get picked before us.

If we pick Martin, I can't wait to start the #shadesofMalkin narrative. Seems fitting.
Except he doesn't have the size at 6'0" 174 lbs.

I mean, it would take a lot more than being a great player physicality wise to be #shadesofMalkin who's 6'3" 195 lbs.

@JackFr has the comparison closer with Kunitz even though he's not a center.

If O'Brien is still there, I'm still taking him. His 6'2" 170 lbs has more room to grow into #shadeofMalkin.

2:52 Malkin esk.

All the word I've heard is that three guys they really like are Eklund, O'Brien, and Martin. I would imagine (assuming NYR gives us the pick) their hope is to leave the draft with two of them.
We've got to hope that the centers doesn't go in domino fashion from Schaefer to #8. I feel the Pens could get by without a Eklund or even a Martone. They seriously need to address the center position.

No room for error if the only pick is #9 or (#1/#2).

Maybe the Pens could use some draft capital (3rd 2025 + 2nd 2026) or trade a roster player to ensure they give us 2025?

I would rather have 2026. Gimme that mystery box

I think I've pretty much entirely jumped on the Martin bandwagon at this point, I'm really hoping the Rangers give the Penguins their pick this year and they take Eklund at #9 and Martin at #11.

It would be interesting to see if Martin ends up going higher than the Penguins 1st at #9, I think there is a reasonable chance for that. I think Martin is playing himself onto the same level as Desnoyers, where he'll get overdrafted a bit due to his high floor and intangibles. I wouldn't be surprised to see Martin go at #6 or #7 at this point, especially considering Frondell had a pretty middling U-18 performance.

Martin has definitely surpassed O'Brien in terms of who I want, I think Eklund and Martin are 1A and 1B for who I want at #9 at this point. But I think it's basically a guarantee that at least one of Eklund, Martin or O'Brien will be available at #9, so I have a hard time being upset if Martin goes before their pick.

Even Kessel didn’t get >50% of his points on the PP.
He comes with a high floor and a high ceiling, I think it is worth the risk of him becoming a 2c >>>1c type player, and those guys play a lot on the PP.

It was 9 goals - 33 assists = 42 out of 98 points so not quite 50% it's in the 42%/43% range.

He had 24 goals and 33 assists for 57 even strength and SH points

Phil Kessel in 2017/18 34 goals 58 assists = 92 points

His PP points were 12 goals 30 assists = 42 points

His 5 on 5 points 22 goals 28 assists = 50 points
