Prospect Info: Draft 2025: Is it too late to tank? Asking for a friend

I would take Martin over either of those two as I prefer a center to a wing. I also think Martin beyond his progression this season and skill is a heart and soul guy. Pretty solid all around. At that stage in the draft Carbonneau then Lakovic would be 3rd or 4th on my list. Bear would have been 1st or 2hd but the injury concerns me also.
That's reasonable. I like Carbonneau because the kid a goal-scorer. Certainly nothing wrong with adding a center which we are woefully low on but if we are taking a playmaking center with the high first, a wing with a knack for goal scoring isn't the worst option either.
If the Rangers gift us McKenna, and he is anywhere close to being as good as the hype, I imagine every single person in that organization is getting fired.
The amount of hatred that will be directed at that kid will be the stuff of legends.

Pens have to get a center in the system that is top 6 caliber. They also have to add another center sometime this year or next. So if O'brien is there, I like Martin as well. But the RW is fine if O'Brien is the pick. Rangers hold the cards here. If they keep it, then Pens at worst probably get a pick in the teens but have a shot if the Blue Shirts go south. Still think Dubas is very active draft day or around that time to move into top 10 if Rangers keep pick.

Reminds me of that tragedy.
We should very much be in a position to draft Martin. I was hoping we'd get him with the Rags pick. But with the Bear injury and the fact we don't have any centers beyond Broz to speak of in the pipeline, we can at least get Martin.

I’m sold on him. I like him & Spence. They look like NHLers that don’t need a lot of development time.
I'm definitely taking Martin out of those two. I've liked Martin for a while actually. He should be there 9-12th.

Yeah, I mean, people are gonna cope and all that but a few meaningless wins at the tail end of the season was the difference between sitting where the Flyers are at 4th in the draft and sitting 9th. Even two more regulation losses and they're sitting 5th. There's just not nearly enough wiggle room for these unforced errors.

It is what it is, I guess. Hope somebody of note falls down the board. Sucks though, there's really no way to sugarcoat it. Another season of miserable hockey with the silver lining being a great draft pick, all but smudged out right at the end here.

Winning game 82 over the Caps to finish 9th is totally better than getting a top 5 pick!

There's just too many posters who try to act cool like this shit doesn't matter.
We won't know for a few years, but falling to 9th when they were on track for 4th or 5th could be a franchise-altering mistake.

It totally sucks. But there’s also zero utility in bugging about it.

lol, then what's the f***ing point of watching sports? We have no control over what happens, so why should we care if they win or lose?

Really bad comment. Especially on a f***ing merssage board, lol.

We've got over 40k combined posts here. I'd say utility left a long time ago.

I've simed tankothon many times before the Pens won the 2nd OA and have been passed over by the NYR's on multiple tries and the Pens were forced to #10 and #11 more than getting a lottery win.

I don't know that anybody outside of Schaefer and Misa are that caliber of prospect, but I agree more or less. It's these dumb mistakes compounding over the years that just results in the slow, death by a thousand cuts type of trajectory.

I'm biased because I've wanted Martone since last summer, and word is his stock might be falling to a spot outside the top 5, but 9th feels a few picks too far. This sucks, and unless the team removes some more talent this summer through the TDL, they're probably gonna be out of the running on McKenna too.

Too damn stupid and arrogant to swallow their pride and make moves for the long term health of the organization. And it'll be this way until Sid gets bored of his meaningless retirement tour, cuz this team sure as shit isn't contending with or without him still playing hockey. /shrug

I didn’t say I didn’t care. I just admitted it stinks. It makes the season very hard to swallow.

But I have control over my emotions?

It seems like there's a clear top 2, then top 4, then top 8.

Falling to 9th leaves it up to chance to get one of those top 8 guys.
