We’ll have to hope that one or two teams drafting ahead go in unanticipated directions but rather than that, I’d much rather see the Habs try to move up in the top 10 and try to land a more projectable and higher ceiling player (hopefully a C). They should be able to get mileage from packaging both 16-17 and more, as needed.

As I posted elsewhere, one of the scouts polled by Bobby Margherita, dubs players ranked after the 10th spot, “foot soldiers”.

“When you have no idea who gets selected from about 20 to 60, or in what order, and even the 10 to 30 order looks like it’s all over the place, well, that says to me it’s a below-average group. Lots of support players and foot soldiers, who are important to have, but very few difference-makers and generals who move the needle in a big way.”

Top-15 looks fine. After that, it is a free fall. Habs have ton of picks in the weakest draft since years. Hopefully 16 & 17 can give some good depth players.
