Prospect Info: Draft 2025 Habs you're on the clock

Put me down for Bear and Cootes as picks, would be willing to throw in a 2nd rounder to go up a spot or two to make sure we get Bear. I like Ryabkin but only as a 2nd rounder as a boom or bust type, a bit scared his F U attitude might taint Demidov.
Ryabkin won't be available for us in the second round. Capitals will draft him in the first round or San Jose/Chicago in the early second round.

Will you do 14 + 20 vs 16-17 if no trade is set with our picks? I really like the top 14 forwards/def and i would be ok with a hensler/fiddler or a swing with a big forward with the 20th (16-17 have a bit more value if we look on charts)

No because the guys 14~20 are in the same tier imo

1-2 Schaefer Misa
3-4-5-6 Martone, Frondell, Hagens, Desnoyers
7-8-9 O'Brien, Eklund, Martin
10-11-12-13 McQueen,Bear,Smith,Mrtka
14-20

I think you discount Cootes.... also remember that whatever the general consensus for the 1st round always ends up being erroneaous if you do a re-draft 5 years later.

You need imagination to see the future lucidly

Snake in his latest podcast with Mathias Brunet said that he has an info that a team later in the first round is interested in Cooper Simpson.

Not a name we hear for the first round but he has a great, great talent.

First of all, it’s insulting to suggest that the playoffs hinged entirely on Game 82 of the season.

Second, did you not watch Beck, Davidson, Kapanen and Mailloux when they were briefly in the NHL? None of them were ready to make any impact.

Long AHL playoff runs are just as beneficial to an organization as NHL playoff hockey. Look at when the Red Wings were really good, Grand Rapids was also good and they left players there for a year or two longer than most organizations. It benefitted them greatly.
They could had the same energy/work ethic without making the playoffs and draft 10 or 11.
This team still lacks a second center and we didn't need a playoff appearance to know it. This team still lacks size and toughness if we didn't realised before. We didn't?

Lot of our roster doesn't fit in long term plan, I don't see a good year in this rebuilding plan. The prospects in Laval are doing ok but not that great. Not many are ready for the nhl level and maybe none of them.

Hughes have to get rid of deadwood, try to acquire quality players, not like Dach or Newhook. Centers are in high demands, about 32 teams are looking for that lol. More seriously, 12 teams wants a second center this summer. Good luck with that. And Darche in Long Island will keep his Boorvat.

It’s really an ignorant take. You think Guhle is nothing? We got him mid-1st. You think Caufield is nothing? We got him mid-1st. Suzuki, mid-1st. How is drafting 10 so much better than drafting 16 when these kids are getting experience?

There are 3 groups of first round draft this year. First top 7 are very very interresting. Then a second good group from 8 to 14. After 14 the quality and potential drops a lot. There is little chance a player from 10 to 14 drops at 16 and the Habs picks him.

Good luck finding prospects equals to Suzuki-Ghule at 16 and 17 this year. I am talking this specific year draft.
And what's your opinion about what I call deadwood players Hughes have to get rid sometimes or another?

Cole Reschny...a top 5 player of this draft...a bit like Suzuki who fell to 13th cause of his size and speed. Scouts still doesn't ́put enough focus on IQ and vision and Reschny has it...and he goes do dirty areas as well for deflections etc..

You hit for the fence and you draft him at 16th. He will be around 5.11 , 195...more than fine to succeed in the NHL even in the playoffs. The dude is a money player

This is according to the popular online public lists. Teams all have different list and a player in the second tier might be in the third tier for another team and vice versa.

The needs aspects comes into play as well. You can't put too much weight in those so called "consensus" rankings.

The problem with emphasizing IQ with prospects is that so many 17 year olds look like high iq players when playing junior hockey but then when they make it to the NHL it becomes clear that they aren't.

Like just go back and read the scouting reports for Galchenyuk, they'll all talk about elite vision and hockey sense.

which is exactly what you are saying...hockey is a tough sport.
No he isn't. The injuries aren't comparable but you need to weed out the glass bodies. There is a difference between getting injured on nothing plays like Dach and a play where an injury is not surprising. With Dach that wasn't apparent until his first injury with Montreal on a nothing play. Lindstrom I wouldn't have gone near. McQueen would need to know exactly what his prognosis is.

Hf Habs top 6

Cooley-Suzuki-Michkov
Demidov-Reschny-Caufield

Absolutely perplexed when they can't get the puck and get inside in the playoffs
The lil'l smurfs will rule everything and make a big splash when the playoffs time will arrive. They will kick ass to the big traditional teams built to win the playoffs, oh yeah baby! First they have to make the playoffs, lol. :sarcasm:
