Prospect Info: Draft 2025 Habs you're on the clock

I have not seen anything at all from West, I also never got into Nesbitt from limited viewings, skating is very average and offensive IQ looks limited for him to be anything more than a Bjugstad type.

Nestrasil, I haven't gotten into until his recent playoff run where it was clear his stock is on the rise, Prostas comparisons quickly came in but Prokhorov to me brings more physicality, is a better skater and just looks like a player teams want

Maybe I just started following Prokhorov earlier in the season and that's why I favor him
Nestrasil plays with some sandpaper but is still extremely weak like the typical tall lanky guy that hasn’t filled out yet. Prokhorov is already extremely strong and plays like a bull. Nesbitt does nothing for me.

Zero chance HuGo will take him imo......and he would not "fall" to us at 16, he would be a reach at 16 and could very well drop to the end of the first round.. They absolutely will not select a sub 6'0" forward with either of the first two picks. I expect a forward who is at least 6'0" and perhaps a RHD but possibly two forwards with average to above average size.

If Martin (very unlikely), Bear or Cootes are available these are the smallest forwards that HuGo will even consider that high imo. There is absolutely no room for another small forward in the top six with Caufield already there and their vision of building a Stanley Cup contender.
5'11" Cootes is okay but 5'10.5" Reschny is not?

Let us see where he ends up. Drafting is skewed towards players with a lot of points so maybe he will get to 16 because of his low production this year
Maybe. But in my experience it is not always a profitable exercise counting on the ineptitude of your competition. Far better to identify your target and be proactive in securing same while always remembering the perils of overreaching.

Habs qualified to make the PO when the last team they played against had their ahl line up.
Most of what you write is true but it's also the best cliché narrative possible. I like to have the contrary opinion here because this board is going too far into the positive narrative. Hughes kept Evans and Dvorak at tdl and said he trusted his team all the way. Good intentions, good words but maybe he was hiding that no other gm would take his players in a trade.

Anyway, instead of giving some roster spots to young players like Florian X, Davidson, Beck, Roy, Kapanen and Mailloux he kept old vets that doesn't fit in the long term plan. What is the future of Evans, Savard and Dvorak with this team when they had so many ice time and they were a large part of the last regular games and playoff games? I mean, Beck could had more ice time and same with Kapanen. If the young players had ice time I would agree but the vets had most of the ice time.

If I read some of the other posts, some people suggest this or this players and someone answer he doubt this player will be available at 16 or 17. So my point is making the PO was a bit overated at the end and drafting at 10 or 11 would bring a better player than at 16.
First of all, it’s insulting to suggest that the playoffs hinged entirely on Game 82 of the season.

Second, did you not watch Beck, Davidson, Kapanen and Mailloux when they were briefly in the NHL? None of them were ready to make any impact.

Long AHL playoff runs are just as beneficial to an organization as NHL playoff hockey. Look at when the Red Wings were really good, Grand Rapids was also good and they left players there for a year or two longer than most organizations. It benefitted them greatly.

Personal preferences for posterity:

Yes: Bear, Lakovic, Aitcheson, Spence
Fine: Hensler, Reschny, Cootes, Fiddler
No: Carbonneau

I'm not sure how many times people have to be told that size isn't as important as physical play. A 5'10 player that forechecks like a bulldog will have a bigger impact than a 6'3 player that's soft as butter.
That maybe true but we aren't trying to pick the guy who has the biggest impact at 17 years old, we are trying to project what they will do at 25. And undersized but physical guy is a package that often doesn't translate well to the NHL. There are exceptions of course, but if the physical play is a big part of their success then it's a concern.

I’d like to know why if they choose not to pick him , he seems like exactly what we need more of.
Because he’s about as ordinary as it gets when you talk about attributes that are not physicality. You can get that type of defenceman later in a draft. LD is also the last position we need.
