Prospect Info: Draft 2025 Habs you're on the clock

Bear, an energetic 6-foot, 176-pound winger with the Everett Silvertips, is exactly the kind of player the Habs seem to covet.
Intense, combative, capable of making his presence felt physically, he also possesses a marked offensive instinct, a perfect mix to complete a young and talented top-6.
Before his season was cut short by a serious Achilles tendon injury, Bear had scored 40 goals and 82 points in just 56 games. The numbers speak for themselves.
His injury, however, could cause his value to plummet on some rosters. A boon in sight for the CH? Perhaps.
Especially since expert Corey Pronman (The Athletic) also placed Bear 16th in his most recent draft simulation

Take a hard pass on Nesbit. The last thing we need is another oversized center with slow feet who we hope develops NHL speed. He’s slower than Florian.

Skating, for a C, especially top-9 C, should never be in question.

I was always really high on Bear and, obviously, if he slipstoour draft selection,I'd be really happy with him, but there are two more players I think would fall tous that I would also really like; Lakovic and Ryabkin, both players that I feel would be great complements to Demidov.

Wish we could get all three, but, what can we do...

I'd take Aitcheson because he does stuff that stand out. Hits with heavy shot
I'm getting overly onboard the Aitchenson train like a lot of us but between us wanting him and a guy like Cam Robinson saying he's his favorite prospect this year, one's gotta think he's gone by our picks

If he's there at 16, you take him without even over thinking what your LD situation will be in three years and if that forces us to move 2/3 of Struble/Xekhaj/Engstrom because he's surpassed them, so he it.

In the world where physicality is important in the playoffs, the chance that Aitcheson is available at 16 is a mirage.

I really don t get the excitement around Aitcheson. He is quite big tough with a big shot but also one of the oldest players of this draft so that gives him a bit of an edge in all those dimensions. I am Not overly impressed with puck moving abilities or with the defensive IQ from what I Read / highlights.

He doesn’t have a standout skill in my viewings. Certainly a leader and physical, but not an elite skater, passer or shooter. He’s just solid. Like a better Struble.

I think the best possible outcome is KH use one of his mid 1st pick in a trade and move up to 10-11-12OA from the other using his 2nd rounders.

For those who never saw Zharovsky. Just to give you a small idea of his magic hands.

I’d take him 16-17th I don’t care.

I don't think it'll happen but I'm with you. I brought him up earlier in this thread as someone I'd consider depending on who's available after I've had a bunch of isolated viewings on him. I definitely have him as a 1st rounder, especially in a draft like 2025.

I think his toolset is definitely on par with many other prospects ranked around where the Habs pick, and he's shown a lot of progress from the start of the season until now (same with Prokhorov actually). He's a play driver with amazing soft mitts, who can maneuver in tight spaces, has good reads across all zones as he constantly scans the play to figure out openings for rush or to make plays. He's a solid playmaker and can find any teammate at ease in any situation. The individual skills are there. Inconsistency was a knock in his game but he got (way) more and more consistent throughout the season which is a good sign.

His shot is good, although not anything crazy and lacks accuracy at times and while he can cruise to a decent speed, his skating tends to be a bit lacking. His strides are awkward and he tends to overcompensates for his heavy feet. I'd say his skating is a work in progress. It looks fine in the MHL but he'll need to find another gear to be as effective in the pros, in my opinion.

Zharovsky is a bit harder to scout due to him being in the MHL. He's also a project. But there's a lot to like in his game. And if he hits, I think he's going to be one heck of a homerun.

He makes it look so easy and several of the players he dekes out look like pylons — OK, just saw why. He plays in the MHL.

He’s a 6’1 RW but very light. Could be there as a 2nd round option.

47. Alexander Zharovsky, RW (Ufa, MHL)

Zharovsky has been another big riser this year, and for good reason. He put up excellent numbers in the MHL while being so dangerous on the rush. He definitely needs to add more muscle, but if he can even add 15 pounds, he’d be significantly tougher to steal the puck off of. He’s crafty, smart and dangerous in open space – he’s easily one of the top players to watch in Russia.

Maybe this guy is a better option. I heard a pundit say that Ryabkin (6’, over 200 lbs) played poorly in Russia on purpose in order to incite the club that owned his rights, to release him and it worked.

27. Ivan Ryabkin, C (Muskegon Lumberjacks, USHL)

Ryabkin is one of the most divisive players in this draft because he started out as a potential top-five pick but looked distant back in Russia and needed a change of scenery. He’s been productive since his move to Muskegon, though, playing at a 40-goal pace in a full season. We’ve also seen him flesh out his physical and playmaking games, with his passing and hockey sense being two of his best traits. A boost of confidence in the USHL seems to have really helped Ryabkin’s stock after falling out of the first round in the eyes of many at the halfway point of the season.

Ryabkin would be my pick at #16 because, on top of definitely having game-opening skill, he plays with an edge.

I could see his game complementing Ivan Demidov well.

I love Bear's game as well and agree that he would be a great pick if he falls to us.

I have to say though.....Pronman is an expert as much as I am an astronaut. He is the biggest fraud going and I am not exaggerating when I say that he would have below average knowledge of prospects relative to many HF Boards posters and doesn't even belong in the same conversation as any of the best posters. He has no hockey experience at all as a player, coach or scout and has been spewing idiocy for far too long. This is the same guy that claimed that Romanov was soft and did not have any physicality at all among the plethora of egregiously clueless "observations" that he has shared.

Pronman agreeing that Bear is good is as coincidental and as relevant as my dog wagging his tail when he sees Carter Bear skate across the tv screen or my girlfriend liking a player because he is cute lol.

Aitchesons biggest skills are his shot and his open ice hitting.... I just wonder how much he will be able to use those two things in the NHL. Point shots get taken away so quickly and open ice hits get reined in by coaches because they can lead to major breakdowns... but I love his jam... and maybe he finds other ways to be nasty and tough. He seems to be a real competitor... also being a LHD is not ideal if we plan on keeping Xhekej but that can change quickly....
