Prospect Info: Draft 2025 Habs you're on the clock

Can he do that while still keeping the other first, in your opinion?

I don't think we can get within the top-7/8 without trading another first, no.

But Hughes could trade-up to about #11/12 with a second-round pick or so if he wanted to.

Maybe it would be smart to actually trade-up just outside the top-10, as guys like Eklund, McQueen, Smith, O'Brien, and Mrtka could be had in that range depending on how the draft turns out and might be higher-end players than whomever is left at 16+41 (or 49).

Would you take (Prokhorov) at 17?
I would take him with our pick at #41. If we only have one of the picks (either #16 or #17), I would not pick him at 17. But if we would have had a late First round pick instead, he would have been my pick.

I'm still mulling over if I would take him at 17 if we also kept our 16.

I think it would be too pricey to move up into a position to draft Frondell or Desnoyers, but ,If I had to choose between the two, I would pick Frondell who is already a pro.

I'd prefer keeping one of my first round picks tonal a talented that slides there if I could move up to 11th with a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder (maybe even a 3rd rounder as well) as has been suggested (I'm not sure it can be done, though?). I'd definitely hope to land Mrtka with that pick.

When the team is on the cusp of contending in 4 years, adding a developed RHD like Mrtka at that time could bring the team to a whole new level in the playoffs.

A guy like Kashawn Aitcheson could be a good add, basing this entirely on watching a compilation of his hits

Hell yeah, 5 mfers and Lane Hutson 🥰

After the top 6-8, there is comparative parity in prospects between 8-20. Because we hold 16 and 17 OA, this could turn out to be a very good draft for us. There are no generational, or sure fire stars in the top range of draft choices this year. Each comes with risks. If I was Hughes, I would be very hesitant to trade two picks + for any player in the that top rang of the draft. The one player that I would target if he fell, would be OHL's Brady Martin. This kid has winner written all over him: skill, speed, leadership, physicality and an uber- high compete level. The cost may still be too heavy: 16 OA, a top prospect and perhaps one of Montreal's multiple second round draft choices. I wouldn't overpay. I wouldn't overreach. It never works. There will be enough value at 16 OA and 17 OA that we don't need to overpay. If we can walk way with two of: Hensler, Lakovic, Potter, Mrtka, Bear or Spence, this will be a very, very good draft for us. If the cost to be in a position to take Martin is too high, I would use those two second round choices we have to move up 2 or 3 positions to take the player(s) that I though had the highest upside.

I mean
A 'partial tear' of the Achilles is still a bigger tear than just snapping a couple fibers..

I don't see how not getting it sutured a bit wouldn't help Bear more in the long run?

Now he's gonna have half an Achilles out there til he takes one good hard stride and it tears completely?

Seems risky to me..

i really like him, has a heck of a shot and is physical. Our blueline with him, jackeye , Mailloux, Bustbacher ... won't be a picnic in either end

I have seen him live many times and I would not trade up to take him nor would I select him at 16 or 17 as he is not a great skater, has questionable IQ and we really don't need another LHD in the system.

I certainly don't dislike him as a prospect but he is a very risky pick and is quite literally the last thing we need as a LHD.

I take Hensler over Aitcheson all day as he is bigger and a better skater and plays a more mature game as well as the fact that he was starting to round out his offensive game near the end of the season. Hensler played on a team with little to no offensive talent and wasn't going to put up points while playing responsibly. I think Hensler distributes the puck better than Aitcheson and is big enough to be able to withstand the forechecking of NHL playoff hockey. Imo Hensler is more substance and Aitcheson is more style. Both are legitimate mid-first round prospects but give me the bigger, faster, smarter RHD over the risky LHD at this point in our organizational development. Aitcheson could very well turn out to be the better player but I would bet on Hensler at the draft.

Good to know , I do not have in-depth scouting just what I have seen on YouTube.
