Prospect Info: Draft 2025 - Everyone is trading up, but no one seems to be trading down edition

Not only did it ruin the draft position, it ruined WBS' momentum and they crashed out of the playoffs hard.
Yep! It took out all three affiliates actually. Mind numbingly stupid!

Which is why I have some trepidation early on in our draft. We can't blow this!

I care more about how the Penguins do than other teams do obviously, but I honestly kinda hope Nashville takes Hagens simply because he's a super obvious fit there and Trotz has been doing an absolute number on Predators fans with how bad of a job he has done.

Based purely on team needs and prospect pool strengths/weaknesses, I think this top-10 makes a ton of sense on paper:

1. NYI: Schaefer
2. San Jose: Misa
3. Chicago: Frondell
4. Utah: Martone
5. Nashville: Hagens
6. Philly: Desnoyers
7. Boston: O'Brien
8. Seattle: Martin
9. Buffalo: Mrtka
10. Anaheim: McQueen

But you know Barry Trotz is going to do something stupid because it seems like all he's capable of doing is something stupid.

How does the organization decide which player they're going to select at 11 and which one at 12? Who gets their name called first? And will 11 lord it over 12 for the rest of his life?
You save whoever is funnier to acquire with the Rangers' pick for #12. For instance, if Hagens is still available at #11, you pick someone else at #11 and Hagens at #12.

I would like to take this opportunity in thanking the New York Rangers for giving us a heads up a day and a half before they were mandated to do so in giving us the 12th OA pick.

MAYBE that's to carry favor with Kyle for some reason down the road. Hmmmmmm

I think the Rangers just wanted to see HF Boards go beserk…

Defensemen like Smith scare the hell out of me. When they are more about tools than the tool box, I don't know man.

Whenever I hear words like "processing information" and it's not a two thumbs up, yikes.
Yeah, IMO this is why guys like Marino and Brunicke seem so much better than expected. The first hurdle to being an NHL D is understanding your best option quickly and not making big mistakes. You can be a solid middle pairing NHL D if you can skate and make outlet passes and do that hyper consistently. Someone that can't process their best option instantly is going to have a hell of a time sticking no matter what their tools are. That's how you get guys that can play keep away for 30s but always seem to end up getting turned around and giving up the puck in bad spots.
