Prospect Info: Draft 2025 - Everyone is trading up, but no one seems to be trading down edition

For what it's worth, this is the consolidated top-12 from Eliteprospects. They take the rankings from a whole bunch of different places.

1. Schaefer
2. Misa
3. Martone
4. Hagens
5. Desnoyers
6. Frondell
7. Eklund
8. O'Brien
9. McQueen
10. Smith
11. Mrtka
12. Martin
Yeah, notice how Aitcheson isn’t on there lol..

Those are all fine and might already be available to them without trading. Hagens has a higher ceiling than all of them and imo is the best nature Center in the draft. I can’t help but feel that him slipping is just people overthinking it and instantly regretting it next season.
Any of the guys you or I mentioned would be a solid pick. I'd have no complaints. But if say we can move up to 8TH OA I don't think it would be that expensive compared to say 4th. And one of EK, JOB or Martin would very likely be there.

This Aitcheson brainpoison has you people acting insane. He's like a 20th overall type pick in any random draft, and that's what you're getting at like 12th in this draft.

He's like 7th on my list but I'm not gonna lose my mind if the team ends up with him. Hell, I kinda want it to happen so you guys can embarrass yourselves throwing tantrums.

Anyway, again, hoping like hell for some fireworks and the team trading up to snipe genuine talent as opposed to just taking whatever depth guys fall into their lap.

i would rather take a shot with bear.

Even if you like him, you have to admit he is polarizing. I can understand why some like him even if I don't. If he had more physical tools I would like him a lot more.

I don't trust this draft class, all year long I kept reading that most of the top 10 forwards are projecting more towards great second liners than anything else.

I get that everyone is excited that we actually get to watch them draft one, maybe two first round picks this year, but there aren't many forwards that seem like guys you build around.

I'm not throwing the sink at some team to draft Martone, especially if a 26 first is being demanded. He's 6'3 and 210 playing in league whose average size is 6'1 and 190, that also makes me a bit leary to over pay given the physical advantage.

Production wise I don't think there's a huge difference between any of the forwards within in that second/third tier of the first round and if they are making moves it should be trying to move rust to Detroit for their first, using lesser draft capital along with the 11 or 12th to move up just enough to grab McQueen or O'Brien and draft bear and eklund with Detroit's pick and the 11th or 12th (depending on what they keep).

That repopulates the system with multiple forward prospects who project to be productive but not world beaters to mix in with koivunen and mcgroaty and you keep you 26 first rounder and hope you suck enough to grab a foundational piece next year.

I totally get why people prefer other players, but acting like he's some sort of pariah that will signal the end of the franchise is a bit much.

Buddy I gotta chug an espresso to get amped enough to be apathetic about this team anymore. I think McQueen's gonna be Bjugstad, but I'm not gonna think about him for a second longer than his name being announced in reality.

If you're the Penguins and McQueen is available, I have no idea why you wouldn't take him given you have to 1sts in that position.

I agree but it will make people here mad.

The ideal outcome in this draft without some unexpected faller (someone like Hagens or O'Brien) is McQueen at #11 and Eklund at #12. I have no qualms with McQueen at #11 if he slides there.

Wondering if there's a deal to be made with Buffalo that includes a swap of 9 and 11. Samuelsson, Byram, Quinn from Buffalo. Rust, Rakell, Karlsson from us. Don't know how it all shakes but a sweetener that gets us up two spots would really help.
if we are moving up to 9 it would need to be our 12+a player or lower pick

I haven’t been as engaged on the draft this year, I’ll just say it’s good to have a few scratch off tickets in the front half of the first round.

Now don’t screw it up!
