Prospect Info: Draft 2025 - Everyone is trading up, but no one seems to be trading down edition

I finally finished my Hagens mixtape. Watching this kid skate is a true joy. If you can think of a positive attribute to describe someone's skating it's probably applicable to Hagens.

Might not be the best player in the draft, but he's going to put up the most points IMO.

Logan Cooley 2.0 in terms of people writing him off for dumb ass reasons.

Trading up to #4 to guarantee getting a quality center makes a lot of sense for where this organization is at.

Discussions around guys like Eklund, Smith, Bear, etc are all good and well given that we are picking #11 currently, but the fact is - this organization needs a legit, future top 6 center in the worst way possible. It can not be expressed hard enough how weak that area is for us.

I support trading up to get one of Frondell, Desnoyers, JOB, or Martin (provided Schaeffer, Misa, and Hagens go 1-3).
100%.

All for trading up if it’s a possibility but I would think it would require an additional 1st. Not sure if that’s a good idea.

DO IT NOW COWARDS!!!!

would love to see them move up, they could have also lost more at the end of the season, stupid "Vezina calibre when it doesn't count but has endless repercussions" Jarry.

New nick name guys, Everyone has to use it!!!

Don’t agree at all tbh. I think he projects to be a very good skater but I’d stop there. I don’t think he’ll be an elite skater in the NHL.

I have him 2 over Misa too. So not hating.

God damn I can't wait for the day Rust is traded. Gonna be as amped as I was when Sully was fired.

Preemptive f*** you @CheckingLineCenter don't do it!

“NHL forward Bryan Rust announced his retirement today. Rust finishes his career with just over 1000 games and 600 points as well as two cups but his most notable achievement will be that he was a one club man and played all those games for the Pittsburgh Penguins”

Has everyone forgotten how crazy trades were at the trade deadline. Whatever we think of Rust we still have to put him up vs. trade deadline deals. As in, rising cap, poor draft, etc..

Thanks for not saying "Pittsburgh Penguins captain Bryan Rust."

I feel like Hagens is on the Shane Wright path. Top prospect but drops a bit. Takes a few NCAA seasons to develop then slowly builds his game in the NHL.

The best part of this team sucking is torturing @Big Friggin Dummy with cold hard American FACTS.

simply put Rust is one of the best to ever don the black and Vegas gold/yellow gold/gold and deserves to stay as long as he wants along with our All Star goalie. He is next in line to wear a letter and that is too valuable to trade, even for a future superstar.

Rust is 33, but some could hint about his production being largely tied to playing with Geno and in particular Crosby. His contract is very attractive though. But all that said I don't think his value is as high as some here suggest.

Only a team that fancies themselves as ''close'' would want him or more accurately pay a decent premium to get him..

Look at the impact Marchand has in Florida. Rust/Rakell as a 3rd line player for a contender could be very interesting.

Especially in a market where there is not much to be gained, both players represent an absolute premium asset.

Yeah this is insane. lol.

Same type of “we could get more than 15th overall for Rakell” mindset.
Why do you think UFA Petts and DOC are worth more than Rakell on a sweetheart deal?

Why do you think an older, more expensive Kreider coming off a dogshit year can still have net positive value, but Rakell coming off a career year can't get more than a mid 1st in a shallow draft?

Make that make sense.

I was thinking of mentioning Marchand within the context of my post but yep, you nailed it! That's the exact comparison I was trying to draw. :thumbu:
