The Ads (19-14-2-3) host the Charlotte Checkers (21-11-3-2) 2nd in the Atlantic Division behind the Hershey Bears.

Murray is in goal. LD Gravel with Ufko. LW Chase De Leo, C is Cal and Ozzy.

"Gnash" is here. He shrunk a lot! My daughter said that the skating Gnash looks tiny. The one in the stands looks like the real Gnash.

Appleby, the Checkers goalie, just threw an elbow at Lucchini at 7 minutes into the game. He must be a graduate of the Ray Emery goaltending school.

Gravel gets a penalty after 2 Checkers started things with him and Angello. Charlotte is playing DIRTY and the refs are allowing it. Expect some fights!

De Leo just got a skate yanked out and no penalty was called! Charlotte players keep yapping at Marino. That was 4 times that I noticed. SOG 14-3. The Ads had 4 penalties called. Somehow, Charlotte had one.

Period 2 begins with a Checkers penalty on Carrick for Interference at 16 seconds. They punched a few Admirals in the head in Period 1 and none of those were called. Now something is going on behind the Checkers net after the whistle!

Carrick elbowed Pavel. Marino beat the snot out of him. Both got 5 minutes. Steeves hit Murray with his stick, then shoved Ozzy to the ice well after the whistle! The IDIOT refs gave Steeves AND Ozzy Roughing minors. The crowd is screaming "Refs You Suck"! Then " You Suck". Four-on-4 Matier goes to the net and Cal (5) knocks the puck into the net. SOG 4-1 Ads with 12 minutes remaining.

38 for Charlotte took a hit from Angello. He has been hitting Ads players with his stick the whole game. Del Gaizo and Matier plastered two Checkers next to their bench. It was Boom, Boom time!!

A penalty was called on Charlotte for Holding the Stick while the Admirals had possession of the puck. WTH? The Ads called for 2 penalties. Livingstone was Holding for 1/10 of a second, then 30 seconds later Kemell is called for Roughing. The first call was ticky-tac. The second seemed to be a phantom penalty. Gravel is REALLY ANGRY. He said nothing to the refs as the Checkers players poured out onto the ice after the horn. About half the Admirals came out in response on the opposite side of the Red Line! SOG are 24-11. Refs are less than ZERO! Jordan Watt #83 has called almost every penalty on Milwaukee. He STINKS!!!

Period 3 begins with Charlotte 5-on-3. "Referee, Referee, Referee, You Suck!" by about 200 fans. They score at the end of the second penalty. The Ads play Beat the Goalie as Rolston (6) scores from low in the right circle. The assists went to Gravel and Reedy. Gravel is all over the ice because he is angry at Charlotte and the refs! With 13:40 remaining the SOG are 33-13 Checkers. Livingstone just rocked #10 in the NE corner. He came out without a helmet. Giles called for Holding at 9:32. Charlotte gets called for Slashing at 11:11. He hit Reedy on the hands. Kemell was tripped by #3, no call. Both penalties expired with no SOG. Now 6:41 remaining. Now 5:15. Down to 3:48 and nobody is getting SOGs. Ads miss empty net at 1:53. But hit it at 1:47! Gravel with an assist to Cal. Lucchini scored a low angle ENG in the last minute to make it 4-1.

Appleby's is CLOSED!!! Murray had 42 saves and was the #1 Star of the Game.

The Ads won their third game in a row and have won 2 of 3 from Charlotte. The 15 SOG have to be lowest of the season.

The Admirals play Charlotte at 6 PM.
My prediction is 3 fights. I expect Marino, Angello and Ottenbreit to fight. They all have reasons to fight after what happened last game.

Milwaukee (20-14-2-3) hosts Charlotte (21-12-3-2), both in third place in their divisions.

John Leonard played for the Checkers last night. He played for the Ads and Preds in 2022-23.

The ice looks very rutted in front of me! The teams are about to come out on the ice.

Chris Driedger is in net for Charlotte. Last season he played for Coachella Valley.

LD Del Gaizo with Livingstone. LW is Bjork with Cal at C and Ozzy. Chrona is in goal for the Admirals. Big crowd tonight!

Hometown boy Anders Bjork (2) scores at 26 seconds with assists to Cal and Ozzy. It was stick side. Cal continues his point scoring streak, 5 games, I believe. It is Teddy Bear Night. I would estimate 1000 on the ice. Some of the players are milling around to keep their legs warm. Nychuk and Livingstone were helping in front of me. The game restarts at 6:15.

The second line is Lucchini with Kemell and De Leo. Gravel and Ufko on defense.
Interference and Cross Checking on #25 versus Lucchini. It was not called!!

Charlotte has been in the crease twice in the first 3 minutes. Goal waived off due to Goaltender Interference. Angello gets a minor for Tripping at the same time. The Ads killed it. They killed all 7 penalties last night against the deadly Checkers PP. With 14:04 remaining, the SOG are 7-1 Charlotte, with the score 1-0 Admirals!

With 12:29 remaining, #2 tripped Ozzy on a breakout. It was called. Cross Checking on #29 against Ottenbreit. Shaun Davis calls another penalty for the dirty play by Charlotte! Ads with 0 SOG on the PP. After that, both Marino and Ozzy put big hits on Carrick. Livingstone 2 minutes for a big hit right after the whistle. It was called Roughing at 15:28.

Prokop (1) scores his first AHL goal with assists to De Leo (1) and Angello (6) at 18:28. The Checkers went for a big hit and it cost them a goal! The horn sounds and Ozzy gets crossed checked twice by #25 Wilmer Skoog, who was a big mouth punk a few times last night! SOG 18-4 Charlotte. Driedger has a 50% Save Avg.

I talked to 4 STH, they ALL think that Charlotte is the dirtiest team that we have seen in Milwakee this season!

Skoog Cross Checking Lucchini on 2 separate occasions after the whistle. Minor and a Misconduct for that bum! That Ads have 2 SOG, but only 1 was put up on the board. The Scorer goofed! At 7:05, Charlotte scores on a shot down the goal line to make it 2-1 Admirals. Ozzy and a guy had sticks up for 10 seconds from the NW corner to the far side of the Checker net. No Calls. Lucchini called for Slashing at 10:47. Compared to some, that wasn't much. The Ads killed it. SOG 23-7, really 8, Checkers with 6:07 remaining. Charlotte scores a fluky PPG from the SE corner and off the inside of Chrona's leg behind the pad and into the goal. Minor to #19 for Tripping at the far Blue line. That was John Leonard.

After 0 SOG, with 11 seconds left in the penalty, Ozzy (10) weaved his way through 2 Checkers and scored, with assists to Lucchini and Ufko. Pavel called for Delay when he sent the puck over the glass from the Neutral Zone. That is NOT a penalty!!! SOG 26-8, really 9, Checkers. The score is 3-2 Admirals. Driedger Save % is up to 62.5. Big Whoop!

There are 58 seconds of carryover on the penalty. The Checkers chip one in with 7 seconds left in the penalty. None of their goals have been blistering Slap shots.Teddy Bear count was over 3000!

With 17:54 remaining, #14 gets called for Elbowing. Ads with 1 SOG on the PP. They need to sit De Leo and Reedy on PP1 and PP2. They should be using Bjork and Ozzy! This is where the 11-7 hurts the team. SOG are 31-11 with 10:51 to go. SOG are 33-12 with 5:19 remaining. The puck has been in the Ads end a lot! Ads get a rare O-zone face-off and win it and a SOG. Ozzy gets hit into the boards after the whistle! Pavel punched the guy in the head. No penalties called. Just 1:57 left. SOG 8-7 Checkers and 34-15 overall.

We go to OT, like on Wednesday! Bjork, Cal and Ufko just missed a goal. Then Charlotte just missed a goal. Neither team connected on that last pass.

The Ads lose at 3:32 after bad passing in front of 8192 fans. Ozzy was the #2 Star of the Game with 1G and 1A. It was a highlight reel goal.

Karl Taylor said "We were outplayed". My wife agrees with him!

Ref Ratings:
Shaun Davis, #31, gets a 9. (Tell everybody that you know!!!)
Jordan Deckard, #14 gets a 2. (I thought he was trying to make the Ads lose. My daughter believes that he was paid off!)

Linespersons:
T J Lyle, #88, gets a 2. (He blew 2 Offside calls, 3 if you are a Checkers fan. He was the third Dman for Charlotte tonight. He broke up 4 or 5 Admirals rushes!)
Craig Ford, #70, had puck drop issues, a lot of them. He gets a 3.

Three out of four on ice officials got a bad rating. Shaun Davis got the good one. The hockey world is upside down!

Edit: Skoog, the serial cross checker, should be suspended!

There have been several Admirals not playing. I assume it is due to injuries.
Mutter is one. I think that Reid Schaefer is out for the season, as is Ratcliffe.

I have not seen Alex Campbell (C) for a few games or Mitch Lewandowski (LW).

I have never seen Jordan Frasca (LW) or Austin Roest (C) play.

The Admirals (20-14-3-3) host the 2nd place Texas Stars (24-13-1-0) at 7 PM.

Reedy (LW), Cal and Wall. On D are Statsney (LD) and Livingston. Murray, the former Star, in goal.

Hellberg, the former Admiral, is in net for the Stars.

Line 2 is Lucchini with Bellows and Rolston. Del Gaizo and Ufko on D.

Line 3 is De Leo with Bjork and Ozzy.
Prokop on D.

Line 4 is Marino and Angello with Wall (later, it was Bellows). Matier and Ottenbreit on D.

So the Ads are playing 11-7 again.

Ads PP is Cal with Rolston, Bjork, Lucchini (C) and Del Gaizo.

PP2 is De Leo, Ozzy, Bellows, Reedy with Ufko.

SOG 9-7 Texas, with No score.

Period 2 starts with a Texas minor. Ads ice the puck on the PP. Ufko (9) from the center of the Blue line to Reedy (3) for a PPG. The other assist went to De Leo (2). The SOG are even at 10.

Prokop (3) shoots from the right point and Marino (4) sends in the rebound at 7:48 to make it 2-0 Admirals. SOG are 12 each. Del Gaizo hauled down at 11 minutes. (He drew the previous penalty. He had an ugly bounce off of the end boards.) The Ads make a bad change and Texas scores a SHG with 4 seconds remaining in their penalty, to make it 2-1 Ads. With 4:19 remaining, SOG are 17-15 Ads. Murray stops a breakaway.

Lind comes into the crease late and gets manhandled by a few Admirals. He should have curled off to his left, instead of the center of the net!

Cal gets run over by #25. The next trip down, #8 knocks the net off of both posts. Nothing is called either time. SOG were 11-10 Ads and 19-18 Stars.

The third period starts with the same six players for the Admirals and some up and down the ice hockey. Ozzy with a big hit on #37 after Milwaukee loses the puck in their O-zone. Weisblatt is playing with Angello and Marino. Ozzy stays on for De Leo and Bellows.

Texas gets 2 minutes for Tripping Ufko. The puck trickles through the crease. Ads with 4 SOG, but only 3 were counted. Officially 26-24 Texas. They had 2 nearlies.

Bellows is back with Angello and Marino. Texas is getting a lot of SOG. With 6:54 remaining, it is 34-25 Texas. One guy from each team for Cross-Checking with 6:21 left. Statsney was leveled, then Livingstone leveled the guy who did it. Then Statsney fell on top of that guy.

The teams are going up and down again. With 3:50 remaining the SOG are 36-28 Texas. A Texas player square danced Ozzy from the face-off dot to the Texas Blue line bench door. How is that NOT a penalty? At 1:47, Texas calls a TO and pulls Hellberg. Ads miss a ENG with 7 seconds left. The Ads win!!!

SOG 37-27 Texas. Murray was #1 Star with 36 saves. Marino was #2 with the GWG. I believe that Prokop was #3 with an assist.

Del Gaizo never came back for period 3. The guy that sent him head first into the end boards deserves a suspension! That was most of what Karl Taylor talked about in the post game show.

Cal's 5 game point streak was ended. The Ads are now 1 point behind Texas.

The Ads (21-14-3-3) host the 7th and last place Manitoba Moose (11-24-1-1).

The starters were LD Statsney with Livingstone. LW Reedy, Cal at Center and Angello. Chrona in goal.

Domenic DiVincentiis in net for the Moose.

Livingstone was in a wrestling match at the Ads Blue line at 48 seconds. He and Jaret Andersen-Dolan of the Moose got 5 for Fighting. I did not see any punches thrown. J A-D would not let go of Livingstone and he objected to that!

Statsney gets for 2 minutes for Holding. (I saw cross-checking, not holding.) We have a Kozari as a ref. Can you tell that?

Tyrel Bauer creamed Stastney for no reason. He got to dance with Marino. Bauer 2 for Interference and 5 for Fighting. Marino cleaned his clock, then pulled the jersey over his head. Ads give up a SHG with 45 seconds left in the penalty. Moose score a PPG.

The Ads score less than a minute later, to make it 2-1 at 15:42. Angello (7) with assists to Livingstone (4) and O'Reilly (20). Matier called for Hooking at 17:53. The SOG are 8 each. The Admirals killed the penalty and no shots were allowed. Moose 2 and Admirals 1.

Period 2 begins with the same six Admirals players. Then Ufko and Ottenbreit. Then Matier and Prokop on Defense. Pavel (1) with assists to Angello (7) and Ufko (10). The Ads are playing 6 Dmen, but I have seen forwards double shift, so I think there were 11.

I bet that Del Gaizo is injured! I don't know about Nychuk. (Gravel and Murray were called up to the Preds a few hours ago.) Pavel literally motioned getting the monkey off of his back and chopping it with his stick! It is 2-2 with 14 minutes remaining. The SOG are 11-10 Admirals. How about THAT!

Chrona makes a save and there was a big scrum with 9 players. Only Bauer kept out of it. Wall lost his helmet. The face-off was moved outside of the zone. A bad bounce led to a Moose goal, making it 3-2. The Ads hit the post with 5:30 remaining.

Something happened at the Admirals Blue line and 2 guys jumped Ottenbreit with 1:56 remaining. Four players were sent to the box for Roughing. The Ads front line is 16, 17 and 18. That is O'Reilly, Reedy and Rolston. Moose doing a lot of interfering in the last minute, none was called. The SOG 8-4 Moose.

In Period 3, the Ads have zero SOG in the first 7 minutes! The Moose have 3 SOG. Rolston had a breakaway with 8 minutes remaining and could not find the open spaces on the goal line. I could see 3 of them. With 5:31 left, the Moose get a Minor for High Sticking. Marino helped Bauer up off the ice after a pile up. Zero SOG on the PP. Chrona can't leave the net until less than 1 minute left. No more SOG, the Ads stop at 18 and lose in front of 6051 fans.

Karl Taylor said "We didn't play well." My daughter said "No kidding!".

Angello, Bellows, Rolston and Statsney all looked hurt in Period 3. They need to get some guys from Atlanta for tomorrow night's game at Rockford. I am sure that Gravel was supposed to be the 7th Dman tonight. The back up goalie was Ethan Haider, #31, from Atlanta, 13-9-1, 2.87 GAA and 0.899 save%.

Chrona in goal. Cal at Center, with Bellows and LW Ozzy. Statsney and Livingstone on defense.

Mutter is playing and already had a big hit. Lucchini (C) and Bjork are up front. Ottenbreit and Ufko on D.

Kemell with De Leo (D) and Ralston. Prokop and Nychuk on D.

Mutter with another big hit. The Ads seems to be playing 3 lines? Matier is playing, so that is 7 Dmen.

At 4:47, Rolston (7) scores from the slot.
The assists went to Kemell (15) and Nychuk (4).

Rockford gets a fluke bounce off a glass seam and scores. The IceHogs get a second goal from a deflected half wall shot to go up 2-1. Mutter gets into a wild fight where he and Baddock rolled around on the ice. They got up and kept fighting. Mutter gets an extra 2 minutes. IceHogs score off the next face-off, 13 seconds after their second goal, at 12:48.

Ethan Haider comes out to replace Chrona, who stopped only 2 of 5 SOG.
That was only the second time this season where the Ads changed goalies. The other time was also a game at Rockford, a 5-0 loss.

Kemell faked a shot, froze the defense, then passed to Bjork (3) with assists to Kemell (16) and Statsney (3) for a PPG at 15:13. Marino is on the ice. SOG are 9-5 Rockford and the score is 3-2 Rockford.

Lucchini (11) shoots off a skate at 19:15 and scores! Weisblatt (12) and Statsney (4) with the assists. Pavel is on the ice. Six goals on 15 SOG. WOW! The first one to 10 wins. SOG 11-6 Rockford.

In Period 2, Ondrej Pavel gets into a fight at 3:49 with Matteo Pierroniro.

Aaron Sims made several comments about the officiating. They were missing Offside and Icing calls against both teams. He commented that their medical benefits should include eyecare!

Half way through the period, no other goals gave been scored. At 14:16, Pavel (2) snaps one in to make it 4-3 Ads. The Admirals just hit the post! Weeks is looking shaky in goal. The Ads got the puck behind Weeks, through his legs by Rolston, but not across the line. The Ads have 12-8 advantage in SOG.

Rockford ties the game at 41 seconds of the third period. There is 12:48 remaining. It is down to 9:19 to play, the SOG are 22 each. Guttman punches Lucchini in the back of the head and gets 2 minutes for Roughing. The penalty expired. Just 2 minutes to go. Haider has stopped 20 of 21 SOG so far. Now 1:36 to go. Somebodies stick was stuck in the boards and time has expired! SOG 8-5 IceHogs.

We go to OT and the Ads have a point after being down two goals! O'Reilly with Bellows and Statsney. Weeks barely makes the save on Statsney! The first SOG was nearly the last one. Kemell and Lucchini with Ufko are passing the puck around. Ozzy and De Leo with ?. Rolston with Ufko and O'Reilly with 1:19 to go. Bjork comes on with Bellows at 46 seconds to go. Bellows puts the puck through the crease with 11.7 seconds to go. SOG 4-1 Admirals. Bellows shoots and there is 0.9 seconds left. Haider is pulled. Statsney came out as a 4th skater with O'Reilly and Bellows.

Shoot Out. Sanford's shot is saved. Lucchini tries to go 5-hole and is stopped. Guttman scores stick side. Cal goes right and scores over the glove of Weeks! Rockford goes under the stick. Bellows shot it wide when Weeks was out of position by trying to poke check. Rockford wins 5-4.

Haider just misses winning in his AHL debut!

The Ads stay in 3rd and Rockford stays in 5th place. Assistant Coach Greg Rollo spoke in the post game interview. He said that "Haider was great". The team mobbed Haider after the loss. He saved 21 of 22 SOG.

The Ads play at home Friday and Saturday versus 1st place Grand Rapids. In between is the All Star break in CV.

Milwaukee (21-15-3-4) for 49 points and 3rd place, hosts 1st place Grand Rapids (25-14--3-1) for 54 points. If the Ads win both games in regulation, they would pull to within one point behind the Griffins.

Kara Hammer is here for Woman's Sports Night. I will guess that the Preds are idle. If not, things are worse than I thought!

The two Central Division All Star goalies face each other tonight, Matt Murray (2.31 and .927) versus Sebastian Cossa (2.20 and .920) for GR.

The starters were Livingstone (LD) and Statsney on defense. Bellows (LW) Cal at Center, with Ozzy, Murray in goal.

Sydney Harris, Ref #9, is a woman. She is working with Riley Brace, #49.

GR gets a Slashing minor in the first minute, delayed until 1:30. The Ads had zero SOG in that 30 seconds and the following 2 minutes.

The Ads were called for Tripping. I believe that the ice is soft along the boards. A few players have fallen on their own. So did the GR guy in a sharp turn! GR got either 0 or 1 SOG during their PP. Half way through the period it is 5-2 SOG in favor of the Griffins. The Ads have missed the net by a foot several times.

At 10:49, Doucet is called by Harris for Slashing. She has called all 3 minors. #44 sat on Stastney, then was holding him in the O-zone when he got to his skates. Harris was looking right at it and called nothing! She is definitely an AHL ref!!!

Mutter crushed somebody at the Ads Blue line, then nearly scored on a wrap around. He is on the 4th line.

Lucchini, Rolston and Bjork are the 2nd line. Lucchini is wearing an 'A' tonight. Pavel, Marino and Wall are line 3. Ozzy goes down in the SW corner with a GR stick caught in his skates. That was not called!

Mutter gets a minor for Slashing, then gets Cross-Checked from behind and off his skates after the whistle. No call for that! Mutter comes out of the box at the horn and Austin Watson comes over to say something to him by the center spot. These refs need to start calling that kind of garbage on Grand Rapids! Expect a fight next period! SOG 8-7 GR. The carry over will be 1:56 in a 0-0 game.

#29 called for Holding. He was choking Ottenbreit, then swung him around into the boards! Harris called it from the Neutral Zone. Brace is useless as a ref! We are back to ES as Livingstone and Matier can't get the puck out of the Ads end of the ice. Prokop replaced Matier. The Ads are playing 7D again.

#25 just sucker punched Mutter in the face and got a beat down for doing that. The 4 officials are having a long discussion. Rafferty got 2 minutes for Closing his Hand on the puck, plus 5. Mutter got 2 for Roughing and 5.

The Ads score with 13:44 remaining. Ozzy (11) from just outside the left side of the crease on a pass from Cal (21) and Bellows (11). The SOG are 11-11. Murray just robbed Snively. Watson Slashed Del Gaizo in the SW corner, then skated down by the Admirals bench, near the NW corner, to yak at them! Another Ads player gets a stick jammed into his skates and no call. With 11:21 remaining, Chase De Leo (1) scores a PPG with assists to Livingstone (15) and Statsney (5). The Ads get a penalty immediately after. Murray makes 2 outstanding saves, 1 without a stick. Ottenbreit comes out of the box and gets run over on his way to the Ads bench. No call for interference! GR has a rush up the ice as Ozzy is held at the far Blue line. Come on, refs!!! Ozzy was Cross-Checked into Cossa and he gets a penalty. This is BS!!!!!

The same 4 guys killed the entire 2 minutes! Ozzy just creamed Watson and knocked his helmet off! The Ads are really throwing the hits all over the ice. Ufko leads a breakout and carries Shine's stick through the Neutral Zone. Shine gets 2 for Hooking. A minute 38 will carry over. SOG 20-11 GR and 28-18 overall thanks to all the Milwaukee penalties. The score is 2-0 Admirals as they outclass the Griffins in every other aspect of the game!

Period 3 begins with an Ads PP. Cal and Bellows with Ozzy up front. Del Gaizo and Ufko on D. Zero SOG. GR is actually playing it straight for once in this game. Rolston called for Offside while he was carrying the puck by himself. WTH? GR gets the first SOG of the period after 4 minutes have elapsed.

#28 was just bumped by all FIVE Ads skaters! I did not see what happened at the far end of the ice to trigger that reaction. Pavel was hit by somebody on the GR bench. Pavel is yakking at Shine after the whistle and pointing to their bench with 11:54 remaining. This game is on the verge of turning into mayhem! #28 just came out to play LW. #43 just slew footed Ozzy. GR has gone back to playing dirty. The SOG are 2-2 after 13 minutes of period.

Rolston (8) picks up a loose puck in the Neutral Zone and goes 5-hole. Assist to De Leo (3) at 13:42. Ads just missed a tap in that would have scored Frosties. #15 was trading punches with somebody on the Ads bench and ignoring the play.

Mutter just flipped #26 with check right in front of us! Tim Gettinger (LW) went back to the bench after he got up. Cossa leaves with 2:10 remaining. Ads miss the net with 1:34 left. GR takes a TO, baby!
No more SOG occur. The Ads win a 3-0 game!

Murray was the #1 Star with 35 saves. Chase De Leo was #2 with 1 G and 1A. Ozzy Weisblatt was the #3 Star with the first and GWG. Bellows and Ufko were both +2 on the night. A boisterous crowd of 4225 saw the game. I expect double that for tomorrow night's game at 6 PM against the same team.

Aaron Sims said that the Admirals have won the last three games against Grand Rapids. I checked and GR has lost their last three games played. They are 5-4-0-1 in their last 10 games played. The Admirals are 5-3-1-1 in their last 10 games.

BTW, the Central Division won the All Star Skills competition with help from Murray and Kemell (and Cossa). Kemell did not play tonight because he was called up to Nashville. Angello also did not play.

The Ads (22-15-3-4) in 3rd place host Grand Rapids (25-15-3-1) who is barely in 1st place.

The Admirals have 10 players on the roster who did not start the season with them. Mark Friedman is the newest and has an unlisted number. He is a Dman from Abbotsford. The Admirals are wearing red hockey socks with some small white and navy stripes. I don't ever remember red socks going back to 1981!!! They have navy hockey shorts on.

Cal O'Reilly is playing in AHL game #995. He will be the 9th AHL player to play 1000 games. Darren Haydar is #47 on the list. He had about 780 games.

Chrona will be in goal.Ottenbreit (LD) and Prokop. LW Mutter, Rolston (C) with De Leo. I don't remember Rolston ever playing center!

Husso is in goal for the Griffins. Rolston gets a minor for Delay of Game at 14 seconds. Same refs as last night.

Rolston comes out of the box and nearly scores. SOG 2-1 Ads after 3 minutes. Pavel called for High Sticking. The fans are bewildered by the call. Cal barked at the refs!

This Husso is poor at puck handling and Watson tries to start a fight with 15:43 remaining. GR gets a Slashing minor to make it 4-on-4 for about a minute. Rafferty holding an Admiral in the SE corner for at least 10 seconds and no call. Didier loses his stick in Bellows ribs, no call. GR scores on a rebound that Chrona should have covered around 8 minutes. Chrona gets run into and Marino literally jumps on the guy in the crease. No call either way.

GR commits 3 penalties, gets called for one at 14:33. The Ads pass it around and score from the slot. The PPG by Bjork (7) assists to Statsney (6) and Rolston (8) at 15:43. Nychuk is playing D tonight. I have not seen him play for several games.

Didier, the GR Captain, jumping on Ufko and riding him like a horse, then punching him in the back of the of the head while he is down on the ice front of ref #49. No call, what BS!!!!!

Wall with a big check on #4. Ottenbreit called for a Major for Elbowing and a Gamer with a minute or so left. Watson cross-checked Marino in the face during the time out and #29, Nate Danielson, goes to the box for Roughing a different Admiral. This game is about ready to break loose because GR is getting away with too much garbage again!!! Watson should be in the box too!

Bellows cross-checked into the right post and the goalie hits him and no penalties! GR did the same thing last night and got away with it then and now!

SOG 11-6 GR with one incompetent ref, Riley Brace, #49, who should be in the ECHL! He was terrible last night and he has been terrible tonight. He is the worst ref that I have seen this season. His Ref Rating is already a ZERO.

It mathematically impossible to get to a 5, that is how bad he was in Period 1. The AHL should can his worthless butt!

Period 2 will probably have 2 fights. De Leo is taking the face-off for the 4-on-4. Watson comes out for the 3 minutes of 5-on-4. O'Reilly intercepts a pass and clears the puck. One minute left in the Major. Watson back out on the ice. Seven players in the face-off and the Ads clear it. Back to ES. GR got 1 SOG in the 3 minutes of PP time. GR shoots the puck into their own bench. Johannes with an elbow that was not called.

O'Reilly, Bjork and Bellows were out. Pavel takes the face-off with Lucchini and Marino. Husso shoots the puck out over the Admirals bench and no call for Delay of Game. Why not??? Total SOG are 14-8 GR with 12:48 remaining. Marino runs over #8, who then grabs (tackled from behind) the Admirals puck carrier and gets called for Holding with 12:15 remaining. Two Ads were offside on a rush and it wasn't called at the far end. The replay showed that I was correct. Rafferty with another minor for Holding Lucchini behind the GR net.

Ads score another PPG with 17 seconds left. Bellows to Pavel (3) with a beautiful pass. Del Gaizo had the other assist. Mutter with a booming check at the other end! I am surprised that the victim skated away. SOG 17-13 GR with 3:37 remaining. GR looks tired, probably from all of big hits they have absorbed. One minute to go. SOG 7-6 Milwaukee.

It is the third period and a 2-2 score. Mutter with a big hit on Viro in the SE corner. Husso hung onto the puck. Ads with puck possession. They ran 3 minutes off of the clock. #4 tries to check Mutter and went for a slide on his butt. Bellows and Viro both go to the box for High Sticking and Holding. Ufko and Del Gaizo simultaneously checked Rafferty on the end boards. That is old time Admirals hockey during the 4-on-4 play!

Pavel wins the face-off, goes behind the net to get the puck, Watson gives him an elbow, he passes to Ufko (4) from the low slot who scores to take a 3-2 lead with 11 minutes remaining. Pavel (5) gets an assist and Bjork (2). Then #28 runs over Chrona. He gets a minor with 9:11 remaining. What a bone head play!

Lucchini splits the Dmen at the Blue line and scores the 3rd PPG of the night at 11:13!!! Assist to Statsney (6) and Bjork (3). It is 4-2 Admirals and the SOG are 22-19. Rolston takes the puck from 3 Griffins! The Ads just missed 3 chances to score. The puck was bouncing. Marino shoots inches over the crossbar.

Watson knocks down Del Gaizo in front of the crease and GR scores to make it 4-3 Ads. That should have been a penalty. So what else is new? Just 4 minutes to go. Shine roughing a Dman in the NE corner and no call by spineless ref Riley Brace! The crowd was screaming for a penalty.

TO by GR with 2:31 left. Husso is standing by the bench with 6 skaters out for GR. He goes off just before the puck drop at the other end. Now 1:30. GR just iced the puck at 1:10. What a stupid thing to do. The face-off is in front of me. Lucchini wins the face-off. Shine just High Sticked in front of the goal and no call. The puck goes to the other end but the Griffins never get a SOG.

The Ads win for the 4th time in a row over Grand Rapids! Stick a fork in them, they are done!!! SOG 26-20 Losers.

Ads with 53 points to GR's 54 and 53 for Texas, who is hosting Rockford tonight.

#1 Star was Pavel 1G 1A, #2 was Bjork 1G 2A, #3 was Lucchini 1G, the GWG.

Four consecutive goals by Milwaukee and three of them were PPGs. What a game by the Admirals!!!!!!!

Now 38 Special. They have most of the stage ready.

Edit: The attendance was 7240.

Hopefully we'll see some guys head down to Milwaukee today... obviously Kemell and Wiesblatt. If ZLH and Wilsby are injured, that takes them out of the running. Evangelista likewise although he probably wasn't going down anyway. But Gravel and Svechkov should also head down?

With some of the new additions like Bjork and De Leo and Friedman also, it could be back to a powerhouse-looking lineup. The two wins against GR even with the depleted group were already impressive. Taylor keeps finding ways to get it done.

Taylor is back to playing 11-7 every game. That helped when Ottenbreit was ejected half way through Period 1. The Ads still had 6 Dmen with Nychuk playing again.

I ran into team President Jon Greenberg on the concourse before the game. He said that the team was "desperate" for a win. After being dominated in the 1st period, the Admirals really cranked up their game, getting the next 4 goals after being down 2-0 to the division leader.

I did not know about Ozzy being called up at the time. I did know about Kemell.

Playing Rolston at Center seemed to help the offense. Milwaukee has been losing a lot of face-offs to Grand Rapids in both games, but they won both in regulation. Pavel also seems good at face-offs. He and Lucchini alternated face-offs playing on the same line last night.

Ottenbreit brings toughness, I'm not too sure what Nychuk does... but for the next bit the D could be...

Del Gaizo - Livingstone
Gravel - Ufko
Stastney - Friedman

... in no particular order, because they are all top-pair worthy in the AHL? But it would really blend skills. Matier and Prokop seem like they can fill in at the AHL level, but this is now their 2nd years pro... having Matier as #7 and Prokop as #8 is also no disaster. They won't need to run 11/7 with the above D pairings though.

Of course the development rule will come in again once we start looking at the forwards...

We had...

Bjork is V
Bellows is VE
Lucchini is just barely VE
O'Reilly is V
Gravel is V
Angello is also just barely VE
De Leo is V
Hinostroza is V
Friedman is V

... but with Hinostroza gone, and Angello out, I guess we now have just De Leo and Friedman in as new "V" players? So we'd still have to sit 1 guy every night? (can play 5 "V"s and up to 6 "V+VE"?)

Could still go...

Bjork - Svechkov - Kemell
Bellows - O'Reilly - Rolston
Wiesblatt - Lucchini - Pavel
Mutter - Marino - Wall

(leaving De Leo aside for the development rule)

For the next 5 games anyway... :dunno:

Ufko usually plays with Statsney or Del Gaizo. I am not familiar with Friedman. I want to see him play.

The Admirals (24-15-3-4) have 55 points for a 1st place tie! They host the Springfield Thunderbirds (23-17-2-3) in 5th place in the Atlantic Division. This is only the 3rd the teams have played in 25 years of AHL competition. The Birds beat Grand Rapids last night 4-1. They are better on the road than at home.

Chad Nychuk was returned to Atlanta. Mark Friedman will wear #52.

Matt Murray, of 6 wins in a row, leads the Admirals onto the ice. The Ads won at Rockford 2-0 on Tuesday, goals by O'Reilly and Bellows.

Del Gaizo and Ufko on D. LW is Mutter, with Lucchini at Center and Rolston. The Ads have their red jerseys and hockey stocking on.

Mutter just crushed Matt Kessel (not related to Amanda or Phil) in the SE corner. Welcome to Milwaukee! Delayed Penalty on Springfield for Hooking. After 8 minutes of play, the SOG are 3-1 Springfield. Gravel gets a Minor for Tripping. Matthew Peca (not related to Michael) is a Center for Springfield, a Blues affiliate.

Kemell is playing. I guess that he did not get hurt in Nashville? With 6:55 remaining, Springfield scores from the high slot on a screen shot. In the last minute, Kemell nailed Kessel in the Neutral Zone. SOG 9-2 Springfield.

In period 2, the Ads score at 2:41. It was their third SOG of the period. Del Gaizo (4) scored on a screen shot from near the right dot to tie the game. Springfield scores at 4:04 on a bad rebound in the low slot to go up 2-1. SOG are 12-5 Birds. Marino goes for a Hooking penalty at 5:31. After 25 seconds, Springfield shoots a rocket low and just inside the left post to make it 3-1. The crowd goes quiet until some cross-checking by two Springfield players after the whistle at 6:28. No Calls for that. Statsney and Ozzy were the victims. Ozzy wanted to fight the guy that hit him!

Another bad rebound given up by Murray at 7:07 makes it 4-1. I would put in Chrona right now!

The Ads score, Pavel (4) from above the right circle in top left, the far and glove side of the net. Assist to Ottenbreit. They score again, high on the glove side for the third time. It was Del Gaizo (5) at 9:52. This goalie, Vadim Zherenko, is weak on his glove side up high! Assists to O'Reilly and Murray (1?).

Ozzy just beat the crap out of a big guy! I don't think the opponent got to throw a punch versus 10 or 12 by Hurricane Ozzy. Rolston was dumped behind the play and he stopped to yell at the ref! No call. The Ads had several quality shots on goal. Murray gave up another bad rebound, but cleaned it up himself.

Former Admiral Matt Luff, just banged his stick on the glass in frustration. Bellows called for Hooking at 16:46. Trust me, plenty of other penalties are out there ripe for calling. Ozzy tripped in the right circle and no call. Bellows dumped by #26, no call. #22 just RAN Marino after the horn! He doesn't have a jersey anymore. Springfield committed 3 penalties during their PP and were called for NONE! Marino gets Roughing and #22 gets NOTHING! No fighting strap penalty? WTH???

Dylan Peterson is a DEAD MAN SKATING In Period 3!!!

SOG 23-11 Springfield Thundergoons.

Period 3 starts with 5 small guys for Springfield. Marino just tapped #22 on the back! Ottenbreit put a big hit on #22. Ozzy just knocked the goalies stick away at the other end of the ice and halfway to the SE corner.

#22 fell down with nobody within 30 feet of him. Marino with two crushing hits on his shift! Bellows slashed #22 as he went back to his bench. Kemell had his legs taken out at Center ice. No call, what a surprise! Marino with 2 more hits. He is a human bowling ball on the ice!

Mutter just checked somebody in front of the Springfield bench and 1/10 of a second after the whistle. No penalty because that is not a penalty!

Ads score to tie it!!! Livingstone goes 5-hole at 15:22 as two defenders were gooning it up. The Ads net was knocked off when Murray was not in the crease. The face-off is at the center spot. #16 just slashed 3 Admirals, then skated back to his bench. #11 is yelling at Pavel from the middle of the bench. I have no idea why. Mutter just sent #33 flying! #17 called for Hooking with 1:37 remaining. SOG 30-15. Thunderturds gooning it up again, so ref #43 moves the face-off for no real reason! Ozzy gets tripped in the SE corner and passes. Lucchini scores from the other side with 1.5 seconds left!!! The Ads win 5-4, and are in 1st place

Marino is laughing and pointing at Springfield's bench after the horn. SOG 7-6 and 30-17 LOSERS.

Del Gaizo was the #1 Star with 2G.

That was Lucchini's 4th GWG.

The turning points were Springfield's 4th goal. They seemed to relax and the Admirals scored two quick goals. Then the guy taking a run at Marino after the horn. The Ads came out mad as hornets in the first 5 minutes of Period 3 and changed the momentum of the game.

As badly as Murray played, he still outplayed the other goalie!

How do Dvorsky and Stenberg look? 19 year old recent 1st round picks.
