Kadri and Gardiner for Hamilton and Backlund?

Yeah downgrade at both positions, great trade.

I trust Brad to not be pants-****tingly stupid enough to try and trade with the Leafs. It's never worked before and it will never work in the future.

Matthews, Marner, Rielly and Nylander are untouchable.

You don't trade away a teenager making ELC money that can put up 50+ points.

There is literally nobody on Calgary that I'd trade any of those 4 for. Not because of talent but because of age and money.

Can't imagine any of the big 4 are on the table, so I don't know if there's a deal to be made here.

Probably something around Kapanen as the centerpiece?

Hamilton isnt close to any of the big 3 in terms of trade value.

Kapanen would not be a center piece for Hamilton. They'd need one of our roster players

Comparing the young core this season.

Calgary:

Sean Monahan: 25 games, 8 points, -10
Johnny Gaudreau: 17 games, 11 points, -10
Sam Bennett: 23 games, 11 points, -2
Doug Hamilton: 23 games, 10 points, -3

Total: 88 games, 40 points, -25

Toronto:

Auston Matthews: 21 games, 17 points, -1
Mitch Marner: 21 games, 18 points, -3
William Nylander: 20 games, 15 points, -3
Morgan Rielly: 21 games, 11 points, -3

Total: 83 games, 61 points, -10

Honestly we are probably scouting Karl Alzner, just have a feeling. Guy lives in Calgary in the offseason, trains with our guys at Winsport in the offseason and most likely actually sees our mangagement quite often due to this. He also is a piece our Defence is sorely missing, a top 4 shut down type. Doubt we are looking to make a deal with the leafs here.

Albeit I am just putting two and two together so anyone's guess is as good as mine

This is also the worst stretch of hockey Monahan and Gaudreau have played in their careers, so this is a very fair and unbiased comparison.

For Hamilton no but Brodie is a legitimate top pairing two way defenceman and would be worth sacrificing Marner or Nylander. Not Matthews though.

In what world does 5points (all assists) and a -12 in 23 games make someone a two-way defenseman? :sarcasm:

Matthews, Marner and Nylander haven't really played in the NHL before at all.

No excuse.

Sweet so we should compare their rookie seasons then.

But continue to ignore the 160+ games Gaudreau and Monahan played before this season

There is actually one piece on the leafs that would make me think about if he was offered (with a fairly decent +) and that's Connor Brown. Kids got game.

no to trading kadri for hamilton. Kadri is too good to give up, he's at too good of a deal to be traded. Leafs will look elsewhere for defense(draft, f/a, internal, another team like the isles, wild, etc that offer cheaper deals and less proven dmen). Hamilton is good but kadri is part of the leafs core.
