You've used a toilet a few thousand times but it doesn't make you a plumber.Have you seen the actual contract? What are your credentials to state this?
Hasn't he already signed several contracts in his career. Isn't that experience?
I find it hard to believe a Norris-winning 2-time Cup champion who is obviously mindful of his earnings wouldn't opt for a bonus-laden contract with a possible pending lockout. He doesn't have to worry about being buyout-proof as much as say, random AHL tweener Bobby MacBobberson, but why would he voluntarily risk give up money in unpaid salary during a lockout vs getting his cash in signing bonuses?
He lockout-proofed his contract for a single year - 2019-2020, which is the option year - but the CBA naturally expires regardless in 2022, where he opted to potentially lose $7m in salary and receive only $4m in signing bonus compensation. That seems like a major oversight for someone as fiscally-minded as him.
