the hamilton brothers

do they remind anyone else of the niedimyers? 2 brothers, one a smooth puck moving dman, the other a good grinding fwd who was 15-20 goal potential?

btw obviously dougie wouldnt be as good as scott, but do you find they resemble each other in skill sets?

The Outer Limits.
I think Pitkanen is a great one.

Not a bad comparison, I must admit. The player I always think of when I see Hamilton play is Bieksa. Not the greatest defensively but he is more than adequate. Not a true offensive D-man like Boyle or Green, but has some good offensive instincts.

Hamilton's height and weight have been updated with the Combine measurement. He is officially the same height as '92 prospect Oleksiak. As a point of comparison, Larsson, also a '92, is 4 inches shorter...

WOW, really? That is a huge shock. Damn he's skinny then, but a smooth skating 2-way dman that is basically 6'7... Isn't that basically tyler myers? I think the devils might take a longer look at him at the 4 spot(if larsson is gone).

I'm looking for an act of God to allow the Bruins to draft him...

Everything about him screams leader...99 average? Seriously? The guy is will be one of the most coachable players in the league, that ceiling might keep on moving up...

Can anyone who's watched him regularly give a report on this guy. It seems like he has all the physical attributes to be a hell of a player. Big, great skater, offensive upside. But I've also read he'll be no more than a #3 defenseman.

Thanks in advanced.

He's got great offensive instincts, but sometimes folds under pressure and makes a poor pass or loses the puck breaking out of the zone. He can be mean when he wants to, but will usually just use his long reach and proper positioning to break up a play. He's at least two years away from making an impact at the NHL level. With proper coaching (which he's been receiving all year from former NHLer Mike van Ryn), he'll lose some of those defensive lapses he tends to have (not covering his man all of the time) and gain more confidence under pressure moving the puck up the ice. His smooth skating usually lets him escape trouble, and with partner that is a good PMD, he can focus more on the defensive side of the puck. He'd be a great pick at 4-5.

He was just on Oilers Lunch. He said one of his biggest strengths is that he has no weaknesses in his game.

The only time I saw him this year was in a blow out against Sarnia. I thought he was the best player on the ice. I'm sure he looked great because they won like 8-2 but he was a big part of his team's success. Big, mobile, was nice on the PP.

Plenty of potential but IMO if you are taking a DEFENDER in the top five, they better be SHUT DOWN DEFENDERS!

Of course in today's NHL you love to have that offensive minded defender. However, not at the cost of leaving your own end suspect because of it. If anything that causes the forwards to have to back-check harder and thus making it harder to start rushes.

Hamilton might very well be a stud, I would still take Murphy and even Beaulieu above Hamilton. However, even those guys would not be top 5 guys in my book. They need to be an absolute first pairing type first and good offensive ability second.

I'd agree with him. Saw him a few times in person this year and left the rink every time thinking he has it all.

Strongly believe he'll be the best defenseman this draft class when it's all said and done and don't be surprised if NJ takes him at #4.

He's a less offensively skilled Alex Pietrangelo.

- Both are tall, lanky defensemen
- Both are from the Toronto area
- Both played/are playing for the Niagara Ice Dogs
- Hamilton has a .94PPG average, Pietrangelo had a .88PPG average in his draft year
- Both have big shots from the point, offensive talent and the size and skills to become very solid defensively in the NHL

Both even wear the #27

Why this kid doesn't recieve more praise is beyond me. He's the total package.

Lanky ?? Hamilton has a bigger frame than Pietrangelo. He is not lanky at this stage. Beaulieu, Murphy are lanky. Not this kid

pietrangelo comparison is not good. Pietrangelo has alot of finesse in his game. His game is closer to Yandle. Vs Hamilton who is closer to Andrei Markov. Big body that helps on defense, good offensive instincts, boom slapper but can't go end to end.

It seems like pretty much every ranking/site I have seen have him at 6'4. Now that he has grown over two inches in the last year and is much taller, does anyone think his stock should rise?

A guy that's almost 6'7 and a good skater. That's something that will be very attractive to some teams.

Seguin saying "Jesus you've grown" when seeing him

Wow same height as Oleksiak. I think the Islanders pick him at 5.

Interesting that Hamilton is nearly 50 pounds lighter than Oleksiak at the same height.

Off topic but it's kind of funny how much more comfortable Seguin made those guys feel compared to when Seguin met Kane in the finals last year. Kane and Hall meeting was so awkward it was tough to watch.

Have to imagine the kid could gain 50 pounds within the next 5 years, what a huge defenseman, 6'6 240LBS, kid could be a stud.
