Agreed, the time to ask those questions was yesterday. Only a bold venture will gather a buxom return. This teams plan is simply not working. It happens, but then who's got the contingencies? That is so key. We should see something brave, quite soon now. Or, you'd really have to wonder.

If not, why go through the drama of canceling practice? One would think you do so because you are changing the coach and staff or you're protecting players who may be moved from potential injury.

If they canceled practice for a second time this week after a woeful showing to simply talk, well, we are far worse of then anyone could possibly imagine.

Yea, for the right over-payment, I have to agree, sheepishly on 37.

Oh and the only reason 72 made the list is cost.

If we're willing to build a team with a real defense, then yes, keep Tuukka.

I don't think those deals I mentioned would be an over-payment for Bergeron.

Vatrano is a nice player, but you have to give to get.

The Bruins can't roll out Zane and Subban, they just can't. If you move Rask you need a legit #1 coming back. If you have a legit #1 you probably aren't looking to acquire another.

He's owned the team for 42 years,I don't know that any fan has any more knowledge or insight,or access to both.

Yes, he's owned it for 42 years and outside of 2011, it's been 42 years of missing the holy grail.

I will agree, obviously, that he has immense access.

I suppose he has "knowledge" in terms of possessing access to information and facts.

Do I think he has insight or the ability to analyze that information? No, I do not.

Two examples that should stand out to everyone:

1) He was the prime driver and lightening rod for the Salary Cap and associated PA strife. He had more information and access to what was going on and what the landscape would look like than just about anyone. What did he do?

He sold off very good assets under the completely erroneous assumption that other teams would have to sell off even better assets on the cheap in order to get under the newly imposed cap. He had a great deal of information and access and got it completely wrong. A complete and utter failure that had long-term negative impact on the team.

2) This season he says he expects a deep playoff run. If he believed that, he's a fool. If he didn't -- and was just posturing to STH's or to try and bully his Coach and Management into performing miracles -- he's failed again and shown that he really doesn't know to utilize the information and assess that has in order to make logical conclusions.

Is he good at concessions, real estate, and other business issues? Yes, he appears to be.

Amen.

There is no point in being able to acquire accurate information if you can't reach accurate conclusions with it.

And regarding the lockout he should have known that some compromise was going to have to happen with his fellow owners with respect to the rosters, they weren't going to go all scorched earth the way he did. He completely misjudged them.

My larger point is that I don't think he acts without input from career hockey people. I also don't know that anyone who criticizes the owner would do any better. His failures are public, his successes are public. I don't like the track record since he purchased the team, probably could have had 5 cups,if not for a historic Edmonton team, some crippling injuries in 13 at the end, and a referee or 2.

You forgot about the historic Canadiens team of the 70s and the historic Islanders team in between.

stick it's good to see you on the board.

I mentioned the Trouba/Hanifin for Bergeron deals yesterday and I agree with you. Gotta be open to anything, as hard as dealing him would be.

I also wouldn't underestimate his openness to being moved, particularly if his preferred coach is gone. If that's even the case.

Looks like Neely made have told Jacobs Sr a little to much about how good they could be.

The result?

Neely wants to drop blame on Claude

Jacobs figured it out and likely determined his 'head' of this business a very high profile at that is not delivering or believeable when he discusses team

I actually feel worse for Sweeney if he had a plan but had to answer to a different flow chart

The person who told me soon after the Rinaldo deal it was Cam induced or suggested sure knew what he was talking about

Jacobs from the sounds of it has determined who has a business plan and who is blowing smoke up his ass

So where in your view does this leave the team with respect to the coaching situation?

my guesstimate is

Neely wears a suit like he wore a uniform- he wants action and he wants to compete now

Jerry Jacobs has always said he hires the best people he can and lets them do what they are paid for assuming they are quite capable

Jacobs clearly does not want to be told something that may not be exactly what is going on

It's been well documented Neely has not been a fan of Claude or Chiarelli

Neely last year stated on Felger and Mazz they didn't want to just make the playoff they wanted to go deep or do damage

logic seems he's been telling JJ this and he probably takes him at his word

Neely clearly wants Claude out but the problem is JJ doesn't appear to have the trust or belief in Cam anymore

Sweeney based on his track record would wait till the end of the year- they are running out of games and I don't think he would make this move

the rumor or maybe fact that Jeremy told Cam if he fires Claude he coaches is pretty amazing but that tells you all you need to know

they could stick Sacco or Cassidy but why?

its wild and brings me back to the days of Harry Sinden when he would do some crazy stuff

my guess

Claude gets fired by Cam

Cassidy is named coach

Cam is reassigned at the end of the year, like Kevin Lowe he no longer overseas hockey ops

the spot remains empty for now but Sweeney survives and Jacobs appreciates his no nonsense low key approach and rebuild with young players like Carlo, Vatrano, Pastrnak, Chiller, McIntyre etc breaking in this year and another group coming

Kevin Dean who is at Providence will be the next coach

Summary- Claude out, Cam out, Don stays

The only part of that logic train that confuses me (and by the way I think most if seems right), is that IF Neely was so intent on competing now, why has he let the GM he hired do so little to fix the team over the last two seasons? And I don't buy that "trades are hard" is enough of an excuse. They now have a surplus of prospects, and Neely must know his job is tenuous. Frankly, Sweeney might feel his is too. They are not operating with a remote sense of urgency that makes you think they are looking to win now. That's the piece of the puzzle that doesn't fit.

Otherwise I hope you are right in that Neely gets fired and Sweeney gets a bit more time to prove he can do this job. So far he's a stud at player development and a dud at improving the NHL roster. I'm open to giving him a bit more time to get better at the latter.

I'm sure he would be happy to accept a trade to Winnipeg or Carolina... ;)

Don Sweeney was by far my least favorite Bruin of any significance.....so I wasn't exactly excited to find out that he got the job,

With that being said, I don't have a huge problem with what he's done so far.......I'm not giving him an A, but I do think he deserves at least another 2 seasons. It's clear that bolstering the prospect pool was a priority and I think it's fair to give him enough time to see how that turns out.

He's only had 2 drafts and thus far seems to have done well.

Bergeron was just saying in an interview a couple of days ago he expects to retire a Bruin. He doesn't expect to leave and I figure no one else in the FO expects him to leave, via trade or whatever.

If Julien gets fired my opinion of Don Sweeney drops like a stone.

They are all culpable.

Neely is great Bruin who happens to be a bad boss. He also approved of almost every move they have made including (as we have all witnessed) the Seguin and Hamilton deals, and in his tenure the Bruins have dropped like a stone.

He and Chiarelli couldn't even sit in the same room anymore.

His brand is waning.

Don Sweeney hasn't done enough to ice a solid NHL Team. His attempts have been neutral to bad. He too was present in the face of some terrible decisions.

Claude doesn't have a competent NHL-level squad to ice. Some stats show (corsi, etc) that his system is fine, but his players can't bury the biscuit. Lack of NHL talent.

But, many good Coaches are fired, and I expect he too would walk the plank.

Time for big changes in my books. Time to fish, or cut bait.

I think Ottawa is a better team, and I think the Leafs could also give the Bruins fits.

I'd like Bergeron to Captain the next gen; however, I think all Bruins are move-able and all Management is culpable.

I doubt it will be long now. The chips will start to fall soon.

Dear Donnie,

Please put a stop to these half-ass Jacobs-esque quasi-rebuilds and unload your deadwood NOW. Give some of the kids a chance, have some patience and allow them to learn from their mistakes.

Dear Donnie,

Sweeney brought in a lot of deadwood himself, Hayes, Beleskey, Liles, Nash and soon enough David Backes. Sweeney is part of the problem because he's brought in a bunch of new role players and most of them are having no impact at all. The Bruins lacked depth, and Sweeney hasn't made it better. Moore is probably the signing that has worked out the best.

However, fans are giving him a pass for trading players producing now for picks. That's not much to hang your hat on.
