I'm good on ever listening to this fool again.

Only guy to get us above a .5 pts % in the past decade. And with probably the worst roster since Nolan

You think I want to hear from Nolan,Bylsma,Housely or Krueger either? ... Being the best turd in a turd sandwich is still a turd.
If you put a piece of lettuce in a turd sandwich you probably won't taste it. Lettuce isn't really exciting either, but I think that type of hate for Don is misplaced.

We got a tougher coach that demands more structure, and we've gotten worse. Don might not have been the answer but he wasn't an anchor either. Frankly I think blaming him for every structural issue 5 months into this season is also a bit ridiculous, but those takes still pop up.

And we also got a GM who absolutely devastated the line up for this year .. so whatever.

Don Granato deserves all the hate that he gets by being a terrible coach outside of the fact that he too had an absolute clown for a GM.

Granato is not lettuce. He is shit ..like the rest.

I think it’s possible Granato could have improved as a head coach given more time. But people’s patience is thin given the longest playoff drought in the history of the NHL.

He was probably the best coach of the drought (maybe a tick above Bylsma).

Oh come on. Blaming this year's regression on the roster alone is willful ignorance.

I have bitched about Ruffs handling of things.....and bitched even more about the Assistant Coaches. But Ruff is 100xs the coach as Granato and is an actual NHL coach..
Granato is an NHL assistant at best.

I agree Don would be better suited as an assistant.

But the results don't come close to backing up your other statement. Not sure how 100x the coach has worse results with a roster the vast majority thought was the same or better caliber to last year.

Same or better roster is so subjective we can be here all day and arguing about silly back and forth.

Granato had one decent season that was propped up by multiple players having breakout seasons with high shooting percentages.... the season seems to me to be an anomaly more than anything else..which happens in sports.

All actual current evidence to the contrary.

I would take Granato over Ruff and it’s not close.

I think ruff was brought back because he was someone pegula trust about hockey matters

I think pegula trust Adams to organize and get things done the right way, but I bet pegulas trust in hockey knowledge is wanning

He had a ways to go to be a NHL-level coach. He constantly got out coached when it came to tactics and he was slow to respond to momentum swings and matchups. He also had issues with accountability and holding players to a standard which is the minimum that should be expected of a coach.

Of the coaches before him, which is something, as he was the only one that seemed to have a positive report with the team. But he very much came off like a youth hockey tournament coach than a professional coach and while one can argue he was the best coach, that standard is still way below what we should be expecting for a NHL team.

And I’d say wanting to actually coach his players goes far beyond than just a tick above a coach that didn’t want to do the job (Bylsma). Nolan or Housley would be the next ones below Granato IMO (and there’s a sizable gap there).

Quite amazingly, the coaching quality is probably the one thing that has been worse than the management hires for this franchise, which is saying a lot.

For example, continuing to trust Adams to get things right.

I would like to point out that while DON did some good work, his assembled staff remains under Lindy. And I didn’t think they were good choices necessarily when he hired them and I still don’t think that they’re good choices now. One of the things about development is, I don’t think any of these people would wind up as an assistant at this level for their next position. Wilford in particular who is dismissed from Anaheim because they didn’t like how their young defense men were developing under him has been given an awful lot of talent and done very little with it.

I’ve made it about 20 minutes into the episode and then my phone messed up so I’m gonna have to restart.

His comments early last year indicated he was promised roster improvements that did not happen.
weren't we all? Adams did it this off season with Ruff too.

Let me know when Granato coaches a team to the cup finals.

You mean a coach who was only capable of teaching offense? Still don't know what that was all about.

Never heard a coach say he is teaching offense one year and then defense. Never.

I don't regularly hear about NHL coaches having to "teach" anything. Aren't these NHL players? If you need a coach to tell you to stay on the right side of the puck in front of the net, then what are we doing here?

Granato and Ruff both coach like they think their teams are playing in an NHL from 20.years ago. The league has changed and coaching has evolved. These two refuse to adapt and their philosophies no longer have any place in the new NHL.

Ruff has had to "redevelop" all his players,
They turned over a healthy portion of the forwards since last season.

You definitely didn’t listen to the interview and it shows.
