I said in game thread he gets multiple games

A toronto poster said no because precedent was sent.

But thus was done after the game was decided in the final minute. They don't suspend this you will see head hunting against star players after the game is decided
So kinda like Florida already does?

Leafs fans saying it should not be a suspension wouldn't say the same thing if it was Bennett hitting Matthews from behind into the boards with a few seconds left in a game that is already over.

Probably will get nothing, somebody some day is going to get paralyzed and the league will say it was unfortunate and there’s no way to prevent it.
The league has always had such a bizarre interpretation of hits from behind

Most Leafs fans know suspensions generally come from injury.

This is where you see the root of the NHL’s issue with headhunting. That was square in the numbers, at the perfect distance to send him face-first into the boards, off the puck, on a star player, with seconds left in the game, for the sole purpose of taking a cheap shot.

By all reasonable measures that should be a significant suspension.

But the NHL will punish the outcome. Because Barkov got back up, they’ll take a pass on discipline. Which means the next guy comes along and picks another similar spot. Then someone breaks their neck on an identical hit and the guy gets 20 games.

It’s nonsense but it’s the league we have to live with.

The he did this but he did that back and forth between the fanbases gets old real fast.

Does anyone know the process that the league follows to determine suspension lengths?

It sounds like fans are guessing because the league doesn't have a repeatable process in place. The result is trivial tribalism.
