Shine (31 years, 284 days) became the oldest Red Wings skater to make his NHL debut since Vaclav Nedomansky (33 years, 249 days) on Nov. 18, 1977 and the oldest across the League since Evgeny Medvedev (33 years, 42 days) with Philadelphia on Oct. 8, 2015. Shine, a native of Pinckney, Mich., played minor hockey with the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey program while growing up in Metro Detroit. He skated four seasons at Northern Michigan University as well as parts of nine campaigns with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.

Maybe... best paying cup of coffee he'll ever get.(1.5years salary).
Two way contract, so he has to stay up to make the money. $120k AHL salary this season, $250k next which is decent, but half of the top paid AHL players.

rebuild complete
Thank god we still have one sarcastic poster left, lol.

The main complaint before the season started was that Stevie signed too many plugs like Motte, Fischer, and Watson and didn't leave enough room for prospects. Now that injuries hit both the Wings and GR, people are happy to see a career AHLer on the squad.

Every team needs a tweener they can call up in emergency situations, hope Shine fills that role well.

This screams.... future moving in-coming soon.

Veleno/Motte/Fischer/Rasmussen on the chopping blocks?

I'm happy for him personally; awesome to work and get/go that far even late, as a though fan. *Fart noise* But... again for him personally this has to be awesome, and I feel happy for him. He's 31, somtimes(most of the time) these are the last years of players "good" hockey. Awesome to ride out a millionaire and a really good story, especially if he exceeds expectations.
One if not both will not return next season. Shine will get sent back down once everyone is healthy. I'd be OK if they sent down Motte instead.

I think Shine will still have a waiver exemption for a few more weeks, so yes, he will be the most likely one to be sent down.

Is there behind the scenes footage of this?
Imagine being 31 and going to the office and getting told we want to extend your contract for another two years, and oh before you decide, the contract is for the Red Wings, you are going to the big show.

I don't see him getting picked up anyways, the contract was basically a loyalty gift, which is fine with me since it's a 2 way contract that has no bearing on the salary cap. He's a 31 YO career AHLer.

Personal moments should be just that. He earned it, let him enjoy it.

Crazy how a guy with zero NHL experience can give you at least the same as Veleno,.Copp and a few other plugs we still need to Purge from the roster

After watching that one GR clip, I was looking forward to him beating the shit out of someone who messed with D-Boss. Plus I thought he was terrific on the ice.
