We won the presidents trophy last season?
Its been quite the fall.

At this point go for a high draft pick. Rebuild time.

I know these dudes are human and we all have down days. But I can’t fathom the choice of some players not to try. Even in down moments, I force effort from myself cuz I never want to let my kids and loved ones down.

Some players here don’t seem to have that in them.

I mean, 12 f***ing shots on goal. Are you f***ing kidding?!

Also, the entitlement BS. I’ve seen more grace and gratitude from people in third-world countries who earn and have almost nothing. Where is the thankfulness from some of these players that they are blessed to be doing what they do?

The lack of effort and entitlement vibe from some is a f*** you to the fans who pay their massive salaries. It’s also a horrible way to conduct themselves when their loved ones are witnessing it, especially if they have kids.

Your family is watching you. The people who pay you are watching you. If, for some inexplicable reason, you cannot try for those people, at least have some pride in yourself and show up and do the f***ing work you agreed to.

This is your chosen vocation, providing you an outstanding income and quality of life, on a team you contractually agreed to play for.

Be grown men and show up for work ffs

Cuz 12 f***ing shots is what I might expect if NJ had played an ECHL team

Across the Hudson, they didn't take shortcuts.

6OA
12OA
1OA
17OA
1OA
7OA & 18OA & 20OA
4OA & 29OA
2OA

8 years of suckage, 11 1st round picks, 2 1st OA picks, 4 top 5 picks, 6 top 10 picks, and practically winning another lottery by taking Jesper Bratt in the 6th round.

Rangers

7OA & 21OA
9OA & 22OA & 28OA
2OA
1OA & 19OA

8 1st round picks, 1 1st OA, 2 top 5 picks, 4 top 10 picks. "Eh... that's enough of that. Dolan's 5th vacation home that he never visits ain't gonna pay for itself"

The 16OA (Othman) should be included as well. And then I find it a bit funny to now praise the Devils for their wise rebuild, when in reality they also had quite a few mid teams that just made the playoffs or missed them unexpectedly. I think they mostly have been very lucky with the lottery (multiple wins) and especially the players they got for that - first and foremost Jack Hughes obviously.

In the end what is killing us isn't necessarily the length of suckage that we had or the position of the picks we got, but that we almost got no value out of our 1st round picks. It's been discussed to length here, but Kravtsov, Andersson and Kakko turning into pretty much nothing and Laf not being a real star is just too much. And then our drafting wasn't stellar beyond that either. If Laf were a true superstar and we'd gotten a decent center and maybe a top pairing defensemen out of those high picks, I think we would be in a very good position.

Or even simpler: if we win #1OA in 2019 and the Devils get Kakko, I think this situation would probably be reversed.

I’d literally rather be the Sharks right now.

Celebrini, Smith, Musty
Dickinson, Mukhamadulin
Askarov

Eklund, Zetterlund, Walman

Great prospects, a few good roster pieces and another high pick coming with plenty of trade bait available as well.

I'd rather be the Kunlun Red Stars at this point

After going through the Trouba fiasco, I thought family didn’t matter. Anyway, it’s Kreider’s fault!

Literally only the Rangers could draft 2OA and 1OA back to back and have both players amount to a cumulative pile of poop.

But then you have the Devils, who sucked slightly more than us, get the 1OA in 2019 and the guy is a franchise forward.

A lot of people don't realize how much luck plays into winning in professional sports. Both our picks were consensus, nothing we could've done.

Also have to mention had had a highly touted 1st round pick pass away. Organization is cursed, man
They can right that next season by finishing LAST for McKenna in the lottery . Kakko and Laf would have been selected by every NHL GM in those spots .....although there might have been a couple of GM's that would have went outside the consensus favorite .
