In an effort to keep Quinn in Vancouver, do the Canucks offersheet Luke this summer?

Luke is an RFA and Quinn has indicated he wants to play with his brothers down the road. Everyone is assuming the Devils will try to pry Quinn away but what happens if the Canucks try to pry Luke away instead?

And if they do offersheet, what do the Devils do? Do they match or take the draft pick haul?

Hes not available to be offer-sheeted if i recall.

Even if he was, he's also made out of glass and i wouldnt want the Canucks to spend the offer-sheet assets on Luke.

Bringing Luke to Van wouldnt convince Q to stay imo. If Q is set on leaving to play with Jack then so be it and get the best trade possible.

Luke needs to sign a long term contract asap.

1. Because he is injury prone

2. Because if Q Hughes does come to NJD in a couple of years, then all of Luke's offensive production is going to go down the drain. He is going to have to make a name for himself as a defensive or 2 way forward, which i quite honestly dont think his body is capable of.

Sign that big contract now, before Q comes and overshadows him and takes away his role and opportunity on the team.

Hmmmm...guess I misunderstood. How is he not offer sheet eligible?
If a NCAA player signs after his season, there is a minimum number of games he has to play in order to be considered OS eligible when his ELC expires. Luke played in 5 games after he signed. Thus, didn't reach that threshold.

Knies, also burned his 1st year of ELC after his signed, but because he played in the PO, those games did count towards that minimum number of games, thus Knies is OS eligible this off-season.

That's the one thing I wonder about a Quinn Hughes and Luke Hughes team.

Quinn Hughes is a Norris winner and potentially can continue one but are they not similar players in style.

Like it would make more sense if Luke was a forward.
