Not a bad boy but before he got beaten down by the NHL, Ovechkin was the most fun player off and on the ice ever. He was outgoing and kinda insane and really riveting. He managed to drag hockey into a non-hockey market not just because of his skills but also personality. Remember the old what hockey players really think series? He was just so much fun and got so much **** from fans for it. Even now he just catches the attention like during the ASG and his begging to be picked last, and for a good cause too, not to mentioned being completely drunk by the time he was drafted. During the first ASG he got lots of flack, but also all the attention, for taking pictures of poor Kessel. I do think the NHL needs more personalities like Ovie's and less polite bland as wheat Canadian (not to mention Swedish though EK is actually kinda fun) hockey player Robot TM.

The only people who need more bad boys are the parasites who feed off the peripheral nonsense.

The NHL needs more personality for sure.

PK Subban love him or hate him is great for the game.
Roberto Luongo is just a very funny man. Follow him on twitter.
Patrick Roy in his playing days was very cocky.
Jeremy Roenick was one to never hold back in an interview.
Alex Ovechkin can say some pretty funny things. Look at the All Star draft.
Sidney Crosby once said that he hates every play on the Flyers. Very unlike him.
Brendan Shanahan had a post game interview mocked the Sens pretending to ride a bike.
Peter Horachek saying that the Leafs don't give a ****.

I am certain that I could list more but you get the point. The NHL needs to get rid of the cheap shots and just let players speak their mind. 99% of NHL players are just so cliche.

Do you mean detroit pistons type bad boys where the style of play is rough, tough, and controversial? Out spoken, intense, and bending the rules?

Or like Minnesota vikings players bad boys where they get arrested and have out of competition troubles?

I don't see how Kane is a "bad boy".....and matt Cooke? He's scum, not a bad boy. IMO we need more "bad boys" when talking about the first definition.

This league needs more Alex Ovechkins, Chris Prongers, Jeremy Roenicks and PK Subbans. The NHL needs personalities, not idiot criminals like you see in the NFL. 28 players were arrested last NFL off-season. That's a little more serious than a drunk Claude Giroux jokingly grabbing the a** of a male police officer.

Goofballs like Kane, Seguin, and the like need to grow up. Enough with the "but I'm young and dumb" excuse. That works when you're 15, not in your 20s. They're not "bad boys".

With the Evander Kane drama show unfolding before us...So with that said, you think the NHL needs more bad boys?

For me, I say YES. I want to see more antics like this.

What do you think?

I like the game of hockey. And drama on the ice.

If I want contrived drama off the ice (I don't), I'll watch reality TV.

But that's me.

Reminds me of girls having their "bad boys" phase (which sometimes last a lifetime, but that's another issue).

No thanks for me.I'm all for tough guys and strong personalities/warrior type of players, but I would prefer a league with as little morons as possible. The league doesn't need guys like Evander Kane.

I have no problems with guys like Brett Hull, Patrick Roy, Chris Chelios, Jeremy Roenick and the likes. They might have had some questionable personalities, but they came to play.
