Does the NHL need more bad boys?

With the Evander Kane drama show unfolding before us, I have to admit I got more intrigued with the NHL and tuned into TSN more frequently just because of Kane's bad boy antics. The same could be said when I heard about Mike Ribeiro's antics in Phoenix and Seguin's time in Boston.

It seems to me it's not often you see this kinda drama in the NHL but it makes for a spectacle and I end up watching more hockey related stuff as a result. Most NHL players are so vanilla plain boring and nothing happens but for the first time this season, I got excited to see what was the scoop. So with that said, you think the NHL needs more bad boys?

For me, I say YES. I want to see more antics like this.

What do you think?

Matt Cooke is enough.

And does Tanner Glass classify as a "bad" boy? :sarcasm: Sorry Rangers fans, gotta jump on the bandwagon.

I think there are a lot of "bad boys". Most of them are smart enough to be low key and not involved with the media.
The issues you pointed out to me don't make you a "bad boy" it makes them look childish and spoiled. Trust me there are some "bad boys" in this league that can party harder and cause much more of a raucous then these little kids.

Depends how you define Bad Boy. There is a separation between being controversial or flamboyant and being criminal or slanderous. More Evander Kane less Patrick Kane. More Carter & Richards, less Benn & Seguin, more Avery less Lucic.

I'm all for more personality. There's a difference between having a controversial personality with things you say or do on/off ice and having a controversial personality that affects your actual performance.

This. If it's all off ice, I don't have a huge issue. I tend to laugh or just shake my head. If it's affecting on ice performance, then it's an issue that needs to be resolved.

Kane seems immature with an attitude problem, hardly a bad boy. That crap is like deflate-gate: totally besides the point.
