First Hall berates the media, saying they're always trying to talk to him, chase him around etc. Initially came off like he's trying give the kid some room to breathe, like he's being a good m8 - but at second glance, it looks like it could be out of jealousy.

Watching the Hawks@Leafs game, there were numerous times Hall just refused to get it Bedard even when Connor was open/getting open/rushing the net. Hall just deferred to anyone but in those instances.

Does anyone actually think there's some fire here?

I can't imagine it's true.

OP ain't imagining it. Similar thoughts were had when Hall was with McDavid. The narrative at the time was that Hall wants to be "the guy", don't know how true it is at the end of the day, but there were signs on the ice that lead to this narrative. That being said, people can mature.

Definitely true. Hall is very clique-ish and he really likes to lead his own side, his own small group. Wouldn't surprise me if he was already jealous at Bedard's popularity.

Remember this article about how Hall lacked leadership, positivity, and faith in his team while Mcdavid showed all of these qualities?
(Oilers reboot with focus on scoring goals - TSN.ca) :

Something intriguing happened while they were working with the second power play unit at practice Monday. McLellan had the other players pick who they thought would win the drill. Those who thought the penalty kill would win stayed by the benches, players who thought the power play would score, skated to the penalty box side. The coach will usually make the ones who guess wrong skate back and forth a few times.

Connor McDavid was the only Oiler to skate to the far side of the ice, and bet on his fellow power play specialists. The rest of the team, including members of the first PP unit (Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, Pouliot, Schultz) stayed on the bench side betting on the penalty kill, who the drill clearly favoured. McDavid could not openly bet against his fellow power play unit, even if it meant he was standing all by himself, getting a few jeers from teammates.

In the end, the penalty kill dominated the drill, and McLellan chose not to make McDavid skate on his own, but that's beside the point. The entire power play should have been on the penalty box side, the penalty killers on the bench side, each supporting their fellow units. McDavid was the only one who got that.

Who do you think was jeering at Mcdavid for simply believing in his powerplay?

I think thats just Hall's game.

Hall likes to control the play and have the puck on his stick and I feel like Bedard is kinda the same way. Not sure they're the most compatible linemates because both seem to just get in the way of the other. Blackhawks don't have a ton of options at this moment though.

Lol I can’t even. Could Hall be slightly jealous of Bedard? Possibly, Hall’s career didn’t turn out the way that it did with other 1OA picks such as Crosby, Kane, Stamkos, MacKinnon. Now you have this new kid in town, who’s the talk around the leauge. But these guys are NHL players and when they’re on the ice, I think the only thing they’re concerned about is winning the hockey game. If you actually watched the game against the Maple Leafs, you’ll know that Hall set-up Bedard for his signature wrist shot, glove-side while on the PP in the 2nd period.

The ego on Hall is very well known and was very obvious when you’d bump into him around Edmonton back in the day. Sharing the spotlight wasn’t something he enjoyed

Bruins players seemed to like him a lot and continue to have nothing but good things to say about him to this day.

They also were a veteran team and Carlo also did hit him pretty good in game 1 and he never hits anyone so who knows.
