Does Mitch seem different since coming back from the 4 Nations?

Should have been done months ago, instead they give him the most minutes and allow him to pad his stats and demand more money. The management team is a bigger loser than the core. Vegas would have punted his ass out of here months ago.
He EARNED his minutes, you play your better players more than your shitty players, revolutionary concept , I know.

I'm gobsmacked that you've convinced yourself that the Leafs "allowed" him to pad his stats vs he did what he was paid to do, score at a pace that will earn him the teams MVP this year.

It's OK to admit your wrong when the metrics point towards that conclusion.

He's doing such a great job QBing the PP that Berube keeps rolling him out there. Face it, he's overpaid for what he brings. Now pacing for 102 points and slipping. At least Willie kept up his 115-120 point pace until he got paid.

Those 102 point guys are a dime a dozen... why would any coach keep rolling out one of the best assist guys in the world... crazy stuff...

Yea one each. If Marner re-signs the leafs will be one of maybe two teams (Edmonton the other) with three players making 11+. Then 4 years from now leafs will be one of 2 teams with 14+ million and then rebuild starts.

Marner and Matthews aren't Draisaitl and McDavid.
Nylander and Matthews are a lot closer to Draisaitl and McDavid.

Actually Nylander has averaged the most ES and PP time on ice this year.

I guess by your criteria he's the best.

Even Marners biggest fan (Jon Cooper)...seemed to lose his confidence in Marner once he was coaching him. It went from OMG! MARNER!... to demoted to 3rd/4th line, to brought back because he "looked like he had legs". This is Marner in a contract year. Just wait until he gets a contract.

Tavares is also up for a contract.... this is his 2nd best season in Toronto statistically.

Cooper had him on the first line when it counted the most. Set up McDavid for the gold.

Because they have no depth thanks to the 4 losers chewing up half the cap.

Our 3rd line sucks yet they continue to play Matthews with Marner which does not work (I believe Anthony Petrielli, host and writer at Maple Leafs Hot Stove, said to Bunkis, they are +4 in goal differential (that is two of the highest paid players in the league). Why not let one of the best assist guys in the world drive his own, the third line?

It's crazy that anyone thinks removing one of the highest producing PP players in the league and the highest producing PP player on the team will somehow improve our PP. Face it, he's not overpaid for what he brings. And pacing 100-110 points for half a decade is a lot more valuable than pacing 115 for half a season.

There's more than enough cap space to have good depth. In fact, our most expensive depth pieces are some of our worst.

Matthews and Marner work quite well together.
Why not let one of the best assist guys in the world drive his own, the third line?
Because it's more beneficial to the team to have your best playmaker setting up your best shooters, and playing big minutes.

I’ve been saying since 2021 that the Leafs playoff success doesn’t need to be pegged to Marner’s own personal growth arc and if you have big boys playing seriously ahead of him he can contribute as a Kessel on a Pittsburgh. But the problem is we don’t have a more serious layer of guys ahead of him.
Big boys ahead of him? So for him to be worth 11 plus milllion he needs a couple of 12 plus million players to play with? Is that what you are stating?

Basically Matthews and Nylander taking more alpha positions on the depth chart in the playoffs. To mixed results thus far.

Think they’re all second fiddles… knowing what we know now in 2025.
Well putting the puck in the net is good, so 2 of them get a pass, even William with what looks to be a lock, with 40,40 and 40 goal consecutive season. JT would get a pass if he plays about the same for 7 million. So that leaves one…

So the solution to the Leafs problems is to make Mitch score less by pairing him with shitty players and give Matty and Knies fewer high danger scoring chances by taking Mitch off their line?

Genius!

Matthews doesn’t get a pass from me anymore. He’s the same as Mitch.

Well he is injured, no doubt in my mind. Just watch him skate off the ice, he skates like his back is bad. Very stiff and posture just looks weird, sort of like me for the first few minutes when I get up in the morning.

Marner’s post-game… swarmed by the press. 2:37 of youtube video below.

Well, the Leafs aren’t shielding Marner this year like they have in the past.

Good to see. Gotta love how he tries to act like his agent is the one pulling the strings, not him. He’s been walking this line for a while, did the same thing last negotiations. The classic Toronto kid who just wants to live his dream and play for his city… while his agent plays the villain. Or at least, that’s the narrative Mitch wants people to buy into.

Remember in 2019 when he signed that massive contract? When asked about an offer sheet, he said, "I told my agents I didn’t care about it and didn’t even want to know the contract because I wanted to be a Leaf." Lol

Take a hike Mitch.

Right, he told the media he wasn't going to discuss his contract with them at the beginning of the season, and told them again.

Marner's post game talk with the media. So all of it in a nutshell.
If your not gonna respond to anything in my post...just post your thoughts without quoting.

Clearly, your don't have any good counter argument if the best you can do is act like a child.
