The best thing ML$E could do is let this guy walk. He's a proven playoffs no show loser. That's on top of having the worst attitude of anyone on the team.

Anyone who says otherwise hasn't been paying attention. The media sound bites and undermining of players like Crosby are just glimpses the public are able to see. O'Rielly and Schenn both saw enough behind the scenes they refused to re-sign.

They'd rather be members of a hockey team than a country club.

As a leader it's up to Marner to set the right tone in the dressing room. This he clearly has not accomplished. A failure to accept personal responsibility while at the same time demanding obnoxious amounts of money to play a game that he doesn't take seriously for a living.

Marner said it best himself "It's just hockey" right Mitch.

Matthews trips and falls against Marchand, coincidentally while the puck travels past them?

Below is the sequence in photos. Matthews is closest to puck, but Matthews knows that he won't be able to do anything if he receives the pass because Marchand is too close...so instead he leaves the puck, bodies Marchand and just like that Marner is 2vs1 or 3v2, however you want to see it.

The casual hockey fan would definitely miss this sneaky elite play and think it wasn't intentional. But the pictures don't lie.

Matthews actually does this little move here and there.

You said Matthews created a 2 on 1. It wasn’t a 2 on one. Marner took it to the slot himself after JT threw it in the middle, Matthews falls, doesn’t even touch the puck (which Joe Bowen even says). Matthews didn’t even get an assist on the goal, so how did he set up Marner?

Matthews literally falls. You can screen shot as many times as you want. Everyone on this board and watched the game last night knows Matthews completely blew a tire there, nothing intentional about that play.

You do realize I said Matthews bodies Marchand and "leaves the puck"? You need to touch the puck to be credited for an assist. That's how hockey works.

Below is a video of probably the most famous phantom assist ever, by Mario Lemiuex in the 2002 olympics. Are you gonna say Lemieux just whiffed on this pass? Guess what, Lemieux didn't get and an assist but he's credit for the play that created the goal.

There were a few posts in the 4 nations that alluded to, don’t expect anything from Mitch look who he is saddled with, Hagel and Cirreli , so some thought he needs players of better quality than those guys, at the least.

#1 Joe Bowen doesnt say anything about Matthews falling. So you clearly don't know your Leaf hockey if you thought that was his voice.

#2 Found a better angle from the Bruins feed.

So this was Matthews tripping and falling and Marchand coincidentally being boxed out from the puck by the falling Matthews? Damn Matthews is a lucky guy.

Love getting Matthews the credit he deserves. The OT set up by Matthews was equally as good. It's these plays that go unnoticed that Matthews does that makes him on a different level than Marner.

Matthews just made a basic play player doing dozen of time in a game, let a pass goes when you know you can't touch or do anything with it... Its pretty basic, sorry. . He didn't set up the play, he just let the puck goes behind him and marner in a 2v2 ( not 2v1) decked and using Boston D as a screen. Its not Matthews who did the biggest part of this goal, it's marner. Just inverse marner and matthews on this play and you would be the 1st person to say marner did nothing and Matthews did all the job on the goal

On 3v3 yeah rielly and Matthews battled pretty hard to win puck battle and set the breakaway but he still convert it

Couple of second later of his 1st goal, he set up Timmins with Matthews shooting wide of the net on rebound. You're probably gonna say it's matthews who set up this by missing the empty net goal.



or later after pastrnak goal, this play who gave up a great scoring chance to Matthews who didn't concerted it Matthews. Yeah Matthews made a good dangle but its Marner little play who gave matthews speed and the edge to attack the bruins D but again for sure you will never talk about those play

This year, Tavares "is" probably better than Nylander 5v5. Though Nylanders incredible goal scoring rate 5v5 makes it a close race.

Tavares is having an excellent under the radar season. It's his second best statistical season as a Leaf. While also starting only 49% of the time in the Ozone, which is significantly lower than any prior years in his career. In past years as a leaf he was 54% at lowest and as high as 64%. For the Islanders he was as high as 81% Ozone starts.
