Getting a lot of heat on the Habs board, team has been bad for a long time and he was part of a rebuilding plan to help the growth of the players. But lots feel like he ain't the man of the situation.

Expectation from manager before the season we're to be in the playoff mix:

But the organization’s stated goal ahead of training camp this week is to be “in the mix” until April.

“I want us to be in the race, more long-term,” Hughes said Monday before the Canadiens’ annual season-opening golf tournament at Club Laval-sur-le-Lac. “I can’t predict whether that means until the last game, I can’t predict whether we’ll make the playoffs.

“At the end of the day, for us to progress, to move forward, the players need to gain experience as a team in games that matter.”

He'll eventually just "step away" but I don't think that is coming this year. The roster sucks.
I got that feeling too that he might step away, but Marty ain't no quitter.

Well what did the GM say about this season before it started?

I'd say if the Hab's continue losing after Laine gets back then the chance of the coach getting fired moves over 50%

Gorton held onto Quinn way longer than he should have and got himself fired. It’s one of those things. You have to fire the rebuild coach at some point no matter what.

St. Louis is a great guy who the players like. He’s perfect during a rebuild. But when a club wants to win they need a coach who commands respect from the players so they will play winning hockey.

Has the GM really gotten the players to turn this ship around yet?

The roster really isn’t all that great. Not sure why there was talk about playoffs this season.

Were asking for too many kids to hit this year especially on D.
Exactly. You can’t just start a rebuild and say in x amount of years we want to be here without doing to the work and making a better roster

No, he’s not as bad as Habs fans think. The roster is worse than fans think.

The end.
Can't just expect a bunch of kids to figure it out in the NHL level without some support. Their 5 young D going into the season, taking out the 2 vets in Savard and Matheson, have like 310 NHL games under their belts combined.

Honestly, they should have saved the Newhook assets and targeted someone more experienced.
