He better if he wants to keep that hype going

Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli, and Mitchkov should all be 70+ pt players this year (with bedard closer to 100), if the 2023 draft is trending to be as strong as hyped

I have no clue why you think a 6 game sample size is reflective of anything, particularly when the majority of it isn’t even from this season. This is goofy
He’s just not showing any signs of being a productive NHL forward lately.

If he hits Lafreniere best season totals which is 57 points, the Ducks fans should be ecstatic

Yes, but he absolutely better or the pick will be questioned even further.

He hasn't even turned 20 yet. This isn't a 23 year old Kakko we're talking about at this point, he's got less than 60 career games to date. And it's not like he hasn't shown anything in those games, he's had legit times where he's looked like a 1c. Just not consistently.

Heck, team doctors last year found he hasn't even stopped growing yet, they said he might have another couple inches to go. Like with Sennecke, the Ducks picked based on upside rather than immediate returns.

You act like the pick is in a vacuum and there weren't other options on the board. If the players the team passed on to pick him look significantly better, it will be a very bad look.

Lately as in over the course of the two games the team has played in the last 6 months? :help:

Since we're doing weird shit

If you go to the games immediately before that he has 4 points in 3 games

But I wonder why one wouldn't do that...

He had 5 points in 3 preseason games as a 19 year old, you don't think that is a sign of a potentially productive NHL forward?

Sure it'd look bad .... in a few years. Not two games into his 2nd season at age 19.

Even his first year, what player was "significantly better" as a pick that they could have chosen? Michkov wasn't even in the NHL (and supposedly didn't want to play for Anaheim), Fantilli's rookie year was at best in the same ballpark. No one else was a realistic consideration at 2OA, any other pick but one of those 3 would have been seen as a far more crazy pick than Carlsson.

The question is quite literally about an end of season outcome, so drop the talk about three games into this season.

We’ll see where he is at the end of the season. If he’s not putting up around 60 points, there’s a good chance someone else in that draft range has. This was viewed as one of the best 2-5 ranges for a draft in a long time. The pressure is on all these players to deliver. There will be scrutiny of all the picks.
