Does Jared Staal really have the most potential?

Henry made the comment regarding Jordan, and it seems one newspaper or magazine picked it up, got it wrong, and everyone else jumped on it. I hope Jared proves everyone wrong but he's not the one with the most potential at this stage. He has a lot of catching up to do and he has to do it in the spotlight of one brother winning the Stanley Cup, another winning a gold medal at the WJHC, and a third getting to the Memorial Cup finals and then being picked 2nd in the draft.

Which begs the question. Jordan has looked much better than I personally thought he would for the Pens these past few games. He already would be one of their best defensive forwards and creates havoc out there when he is on the ice. And yet remains very raw, especially offensively and his skating needs work. Does he perhaps have the most potential out of the Staals? I would not have said so before the season started. Perhaps not even now. Eric sets the bar extremely high. But the kid is already a horse out there.

They all look raw pre-20... Eric was not expected to crack Carolina his first season and didnt tear up the league... a lockout induced stint in Lowell(?) with Chuck Kobasew helped him immensley... even jordans numbers in the O were never spectacular... but dont underestimate any of these guys... they seem to mature suddenly and dramatically... that being said we'll all just have to wait and see..

Is Jared a 1990 born player? or 91?

He's a 90. Someone else asked if anyone had seen him play this year. I haven't, but I know yesterday the Oshawa announcer said he saw very little ice time. I don't think he had a shift in the first period. Most people agree that he wasn't a bonafide first rounder and was picked because of his last name.

Here is his profile from the OHL site:

Haven't see Jared's game, but I did witness his enthusiasm for hockey yesterday afternoon. Caught a Wolves game (didn't even know brother Marc had been sent back - duh) and Jared was standing with his parents watching the action in the standing room area about 20 feet from me. The game was frantic (Wolves tied it at 4-4 with 30 seconds left in the game, shorthanded in OT and ended losing in the shootout) and Jared seemed pretty caught up in it. Holding on the railing, swinging back and forth, reacting to the ref's bad calls. Kid is tall and lanky and looks very much like his older brother Eric.

Anyway, not sure how good he is, but he's enthusiastic about the game. So based on that, he will surely be the number pick in the draft. :sarcasm:

Well according to hockeydb.com, he's 6'2, 185, which is pretty damn big for a kid who's just barely 16 years old. He may not be the best of the brothers, but there's a good chance he'll be the biggest. I'm 20 and I'm 6'3, 205, and I was lucky if I was 6', 150 when I turned 16.
