Does Gretzky being a Trump supporter hurt his legacy?

Much of what is known about Gretzky outside of stats is that he's this super nice guy. But given his support for Trump now, and previously his support for Stephen Harper, his support for the Iraq war, that seems to clash with his nice guy persona. Not to mention the gambling scandal that he blamed on his wife and the rampant whispers through the years that he's a raging alcoholic. Might this affect how people know Gretzky the person, if not Gretzky the hockey player?
