They would have if they faced anyone but the Berube-coached Leafs. This is not the Leaves HFBoards knows and love for their endless ability to choke when the games matter the most... this team is just built different. The haters will see soon enough.

Your team won a first round series two years ago and followed it up by falling behind 3-1 before succumbing in Game 7 in the first round. You beat Ottawa a couple of days ago. Yes, we’re going to have to see more before we’re true believers.

No. Finals will be Toronto vs Edmonton.

It will go to 7, in overtime. Delayed penalty on Edmonton so Toronto pulls their goalie, they establish zone control, matthews goes to pass up to his defenseman, completely shanks the pass and goes into his own empty net. Edmonton wins.

The 2012-13 regular season was affected by a lockout and the regular season was shortened to 48 games.
Ohh right that’s the year PK won the Norris I think. But yeah if this is fatigue related, and they don’t have to deal with said fatigue, then you just can’t count it as the same.

This comparison in regards to fatigue can only be compared to other teams who dealt with the same circumstances of fatigue.

It would be like a race winner who won a 5k vs a race winner who won a 2k. Part of winning the 5k is the ability to uphold the longevity of the race. If you take away the longevity it is no longer the same kind of race as stamina is the focal point in the same way that stamina is the focal point here.

I’ll give them credit in comparison to other teams (peers) for those specific years. But we cannot give them credit against teams before or after as they simply did not run the same kind of race. This is a comparison of longevity and stamina if you take that away then you have taken away the very crux of the argument.

Thus, should we take away Tampa’s accomplishments? No. Should we take away the comparison of other teams who competed under full seasons? Yes, because there is no comparison to be had, there is no variable that exists there to fulfill the comparison. So how can anyone make a comparable circumstance that isn’t their and did not exist?

Yes - I studied philosophy in school.

I'm with you on this one, and the Bolts are my second team so normally one might find me grasping at straws to defend anything about them instead. I appreciate you giving them credit for winning the two COVID cups - after all everyone was on a mostly-level playing field both years they won (only reason it wasn't more level was in 2019-20 not every team ended up playing the same amount of regular season games). As for 20-21, everyone played 56, and one might argue about the whole divisional season format, but that's why North American sports leagues tend to have playoffs in the first place - teams don't play a balanced schedule even in "normal" years in the NHL. This isn't European soccer or something where everyone plays everyone once at home and once away. You can fairly crown a champion for whoever's in first place with that kind of setup.

The fatigue from when the games were played just doesn't compare. The Bolts played 65-70 (or whatever) games, stopped in March with several months off, won the cup in the fall, then had a few more months off before playing again (and it was a shortened season at that). Just not comparable to what the Panthers have done so far. Back to back finals in full-length seasons, plus 87 games already this season.

Ah ASU fun school at any age :)

My dad was a professor there right up until he finally retired in his late 60s. He certainly had a good time.

Also got me 75% off tuition since he was on faculty. It was something like only $550 per semester for me to attend (not counting the ripoff of buying textbooks). I really blew a golden opportunity by not graduating.
