I think Connor comes out. Kreider can play the bottom 6 role better. Need more aggression from Miller & Larkin. Trocheck was pretty damn good defensively I thought.

Maybe Sanderson in for Faber. Faber’s coming off a concussion and is the 2nd youngest player in the tournament. He hasn’t been himself in the last month or so since he came back.
I could see Sanderson coming in now, after a few practices, and also Kreider.

Do suspensions carry over to the regular season? If not, the Tkachuks’ front teeth are about to have a CCM imprint if they look at McDavid the wrong way.
Why is McDavid going to headbutt them with his helmet, and then get suspended.

Crazy that you were holding on to this after we had already seen 2 teams bust their asses in the first game

Holding onto accurate observations? You find accurate observations to be 'crazy' commentary? That's an indictment on you.

So why didn't the NHL invite 3rd/4th liners and 3rd pairing defensemen to this tournament?

Answer: It's because these exhibition games are just the all-star game rebranded. For some reason some of you struggle to accept common sense observations. All the NHL had to do was change the format and slap a different name on it, and now some of you get your panties in a bunch over others observing and pointing out the obvious.

So you're expecting the players to hit eachother and be physical like these were regular season NHL games?

(I don't see that as likely at all)
Shocking

lol, it’s ok to admit you were wrong, and the players have taken this seriously. You haven’t said anything close to accurate yet,

So why didn't the NHL invite 3rd/4th liners and 3rd pairing defensemen to this tournament?
that’s satire right ( I’m hoping),

Not saying these are the most intense games I've ever seen. But I also don't think we'll ever see the intensity in international hockey that we used to see because we no longer live in nearly as xenophobic or nationalistic age (although USA is doing its best to bring it back). But if you watched the games and didn't see the difference in compete level between an All-Star game and what we've witnessed already, then that's on you.

So someone sharing their hockey-related opinion on HFBoards is 'shocking' to you? Someone says exhibition games done in place of the all-star game aren't going to be played with the same physicality and seriousness as regular season games, and you get your panties in a bunch over this for no valid reason?

You hyperbolic reactions and commentary are way too juvenile-sounding to be taken seriously, sorry.

Good thing no one made the argument that the compete level was the exact same level as the regular all-star game format - right? What argument was made - did you follow the posts? The argument was that the players would not play these games with the same intensity and physicality as NHL regular season games. You are changing what was argued because you either weren't paying attention, or you are knowingly being dishonest about it. I suspect it's the former and not the latter.

Brady is pretty easy to throw off his game with the verbal attacks and those pot shots after the whistle, but it's hard to throw him off physically with hits.

Matthew is an ace at the chirp game and pot shots, but you crank him once, or twice (easier said than done) and he's going to back off.

Just don't mix them up.

Pointing out that the NHL invited only the all-star level players to compete in a multi-game format (instead of a singular all-star game) during the same time period that the NHL all-star game is normally held is a 'nonsensical' post according to you? Yikes.
Yes, according to me and also everyone else

Generally when you want to win games you take the best players available, I honestly don’t even know what you’re trying to say

Oh so now you've decided that you're arguing on behalf of 'everyone else' on the forum? (Please don't behave in a juvenile manner if you expect your posts to be taken seriously)

I honestly don’t even know what you’re trying to say

So you keep arguing with someone while claiming you don't even know what they are saying? How does that make any sense as far as your behavior is concerned? How can you actively argue against something you claim you don't even understand?

This isn't difficult. The NHL ditched the regular all-star exhibition game because it was incredibly stale and unpopular. They rebranded that exhibition game as a mini-tournament, invited only the all-star level players (as they usually do), and are holding these games during the same break that the regular all-star game would have been held instead. It's the all-star game rebranded. NHL players do not treat exhibition games that don't count for anything important like they are NHL games, the World Cup tournament, or the Olympics tournament.

Why some of you are getting upset and your panties in a bunch over these common sense observations is truly a mystery.

Try not watching it and not crying about it maybe? This isn’t difficult

Canada should have brought Tom Wilson. He’d throw a huge hit on Matthews or Eichel and The Tkatchuk boys would fight him for sure. Likely throw a wrench into the brothers’ focus.
It’s a mistake not having Wilson. But the league might not want him there.

These first two games have been far beyond the intensity of an all star game. It’s not even comparable. There have been some heavy hits thrown, but there hasn’t been any “dirty” hits. There has been a couple instances where someone could’ve been wrecked (Rantanen could’ve destroyed Macavoy), but the hit was bypassed.

Quite a lot of overrating when Finland would lose to the Chicago Blackhawks. Most fans here can't even name their defense.

Should have opened the tournament with CAN-US.

How would you gauge intensity? There were more hits in the opening sweden/canada match than in a number of the nhl games leading up to the break. And I'm willing to bet that increases tomorrow and throughout the week.

Henri Jokiharju is playing in this tournament. The players are playing hard and care a lot about this tournament. You are obviously wrong and embarrassing yourself.

So a poster can't speak for the board, but you can speak for the NHLPA? Nothing hypocritical at all there. Theres never been a weird event like this before. Who are you to say how the players will treat it?

Canada vs US....
It will come down to Marner vs Matthews...who's the bigger clutch player 😛. Technically Marner was clutch in OT against Sweden!

Jokes aside....
Based on those 2 games...
Canada is much faster than the US.
US is clearly overall more physical than Canada.

I am expecting Canada 3rd/4th line to step up their physicality, pest like, and grinding play.

Canada D is incredibly mobile, but don't play much D..lol.

US is way ahead in goaltending.
All in all it should be fun to watch :D.
But let’s not forget coaching. I take Cooper all day long
