The US is developing big strong fast players like Canada always did in the past. Look at the difference at the WJHC the past two years.

No answer for them, no. But Canada always clutches, we'll see if they do it again. I think USA has the stronger team on paper, but Canada is like in Space Jam, they just have the secret sauce. Sid the Kid will NOT be denied.

Brady and Matthew are animals and absolutely are big game players.

Canada has the two best forwards in the league - McDavid and MacKinnon

Canada has the best defenceman in the league - Makar

Canada has Crosby

If those four guys play at their elite level - no one is beating this team.

The US needs Matthews to step the f*** up. International Matthews can not be playoff Matthews if they have any hope in winning.

I hate to think it, but Crosby might be the last in the era of the clutch Canadian players.

Matthews needs to continue playing great defensively, forecheck hard, and hope he rips one in if he gets the chance. If the US wins it’ll because Eichel, the Tkachuks, etc. lead the team.

If the Tkachuk's lean in on their physical/pestering games against Canada, who can counter them?

The only players I can think of are TK and Bennett. I don't think Canada has good options tbh.
I don't think anyone does, but there has to be answers for Canada's center depth and mobile D and transition. Although, I don't have a lot of interest in the tournament as a whole, I am looking forward to Saturday's game.

Only source of concern for USA is their defensive zone effort was pretty lackadaisical.

Otherwise, Canada is going to have to step up physically in a major way. They won't be able to play a finesse game.

Canada has a bunch of small guys, however two of them are Konecny and Marchand and they play the right way. The US length, size, and speed may push Marner out of the offensive side of the game, but with all the skill on Canada he can really contribute by playing great defensively.

I was really impressed with how physical both Brady and Matthew played last night. They both imposed their will on the game. That is going to be tough for any team to deal with in this tournament but that’s hockey and you have to figure out a way to execute your plan. Most of the Swedes and the Canadian’s play these guys night in night out so they will understand the challenge.

Canada vs US....
It will come down to Marner vs Matthews...who's the bigger clutch player 😛. Technically Marner was clutch in OT against Sweden!

Jokes aside....
Based on those 2 games...
Canada is much faster than the US.
US is clearly overall more physical than Canada.

I am expecting Canada 3rd/4th line to step up their physicality, pest like, and grinding play.

Canada D is incredibly mobile, but don't play much D..lol.

US is way ahead in goaltending.
All in all it should be fun to watch :D.

The bigger, and more relevant question should be asking if America has an answer for McDavid, Mack & Sid? Sweden's defense did a pretty solid job overall but I'm not convinced more offense-focused USA's blueline will have as much success.

But to answer OP's question, I'm more than confident that Canada's defenders are more than capable of containing the Humpty Keith's kids. And if they want to rough it up/harass the goalie, etc., guys like Stone, Hagel, Doughty, Parayko are up for that too.

I love TK. He didn't have the best 1st game, though. Hagel likely to be a guy that can match intensity IMO

So the NHL invited a bunch of 3rd/4th liners and 3rd pairing defensemen to compete in this non-all-star format then???

They invited the all-star level players because this is simply the all-star game re-branded into a different format, sorry.
Crazy that you were holding on to this after we had already seen 2 teams bust their asses in the first game
