Speculation: Does Boston rebuild? Whats Charlie McAvoy worth?

Poitras isn't a prospect anymore. Minten and impactful are mutually exclusive things.

Poitras is 20yrs old, has only played 66 NHL games and is in the AHL right now. What is your definition of a prospect. As far as Minten goes, have you watched him play at all? I'm not saying he's going to be a superstar, but he's looked good in his limited NHL time. What's your definition of impactful?

Even 'if' they do go the rebuild route there is no guarantee that the Bruins would win next years lottery for McKenna. Say they did trade McAvoy and Pasternak they would probably have the worst record and still could end up picking #2 or #3 because of the lottery. The goods news is that their rebuild would move along faster because of the massive amount of assets they'd get in any Pasternak and McAvoy trades. I think a young team trying to exit out of a rebuild would have the most assets to pull off a Pasternak or McAvoy trade.

Given how good it is for Boston build around McAvoy and Pasternak, I think its the Islanders who need to rebuild more than them.

I would trade Pasta before McAvoy. Pasta puts up 40 goals 100pts playing with 4th liners. Thats worth a lot.

Geekie has easily a top 6F shot and can can be an effective F1 on a forecheck. Seems to have significant chemistry with Pastrnak. Lindholm's needs to produce 60 pts next year.

Offer sheet Knies $8M and sign Geekie $6M.

That's a bubble Forward group at worst and hopefully Swayman, McAvoy & Lindholm rebound and make the D side of the team stronger.

Bruins retool and Pastrnak, McAvoy and Swayman will end up like Gibson. Past their prime and Ducks still not out of the basement.
Yeah you keep those guys so your rebuild doesn’t turn out like Buffalo’s. The point of keeping them isn’t to win a cup with them - it’s to maintain the culture of trying to win.

I suggested in another post that IF Boston was to rebuild, a deal around Mcavoy for Power might work for both sides. Buffalo gets a veteran D man to help them get into a playoff team and Boston gets a 22 year old number one pick defenseman to rebuild with.

Where do they play next year?
Mittelstadt will play for 2 teams, after he bounces back through 40 games Boston moves him to a team in need of a middle 6 center for a pick/prospect. Everybody else likely Boston, unless they use one or more of those names to upgrade top 6.

Does Boston go full rebuild or do they try and do a quick turn around?

If Boston goes full rebuild what is McAvoy worth?

Aside from the fact you would actually need to acquire Frondell (who is he NHL, let alone top-6 ready?) and Knies.

That is definitely not an at worst bubble group. It would be one of the worst in their own division. In terms of forwards anyway. That's just Pastrnak carrying a well below average group.

Agree to disagree my friend but they will finish about 12-13 points out of PO this year. That's a swing of 6-7 games and my list does include them so you saying they haven't yet is completely pointless on your behalf. Having a full year of #73\#27 back and a full year of integrated 39-28-88 as a #1 Line, yeah it can be. A bubble team can finish 10th in The Conference Stewie.

Vasilevski has had a bad season before

Price has had a bad season before

Quick has had a bad season before

Saros has had a bad season before

What makes you think Swayman won’t rebound after a bad season?
Probably because most goalies are much more a reflection of team quality.

Is it any surprise that Saros, a career .914 SV% goalie puts in a .894% year when his team is not that good?

I don't believe goalies vary that wildly from season to season, let alone high end ones.
