I think it doesnt bode/tell good about NHL that Washington is doing this well/good and without Ovechkin theyr most high payed player comparing player to player skill level speed etc Washington propably isnt higher than middletier team but winning constantly. It tells that NHL is mostly played beer league typicly coast to coast bad defense no structured play etc entertaiment business typic show hockey.. but at play offs it gets tighter and more serious ofc, so this propably wont translate into play off succees, but it seems Washington is one of rare teams in NHL that plays serious hockey.. most teams play whatever typic who cares star cult hockey nowadays in NHL regular season but Washington now has good structure like national team typic level where players and coaches take it seriously. Similar to World Championship typic game theyr structure is much better than other teams so they get to expose other teams who play like pond hockey and so they also get much goals from turnovers when other team's defences are so terrible. Also offensive structure as they attack and defend as a unit

Honestly tried my best to read this once twice.. i'm still confused.

A fracture and a break are literally the exact same thing, but okay doc.

Easily the best team since the cup, and it’s not remotely close. Probably their 3rd best team all time.
I guess that’s on me for not adding the word hairline, which is what I mean to say. While not a doctor or anything I've found in personal life that people are more likely to say fracture when the injury is less severe, and thought it was a more common thing. Like a brace vs. full cast, walking boot vs. crutches, and so on.

Might be the most mismanaged team in the league. Every smart hf poster who totally knows their hockey knew they were supposed to be shitty pond hockey team designed solely to drag the ENG cherrypicking corpse of Ovechkin to 895 but instead they're playing dominant playoff style hockey and Ovechkin isn't even on the ice. And to add insult to injury the time he was on the ice he's backchecking like a 25 year old Hossa and setting up teammates half the time instead of pitching a tent and a campfire on his island. Like come on GM you had one job bro.

So I typed this into ChatGPT:

“Create a non-sensical run-on paragraph with typos rambling about how terrible Alex Ovechkin is.”

Here is what it gave me:

“Alex Ovechkin is just like the most overrated player ever I mean seriously what even is he doing half the time skating around like he’s lost or something, like oh wow you can shoot the puck hard big deal anyone can do that if they practice enough but no he just stands in his “office” like a statue waiting for the puck to come to him, what kind of lazy hockey is that, no defense no effort just cherry-picking goals like it’s some kind of glory contest, and don’t even get me started on his leadership, he’s supposed to be a captain but I’ve seen more inspirational energy from a soggy bag of chips, and oh let’s not forget about how he totally disappears in the playoffs half the time, except for that one time they won the Cup but that doesn’t count because like the whole team carried him obviously, and his skating, wow, so graceful, like watching a refrigerator try to dance, I mean come on this guy’s supposed to be one of the greatest but can’t even backcheck half the time, yeah OK sure if by greatest you mean most overrated goals-only player in the history of ever, but hey keep putting him on those highlight reels for the same one-timer goal from the same spot because clearly that’s the only thing he knows how to do.”

I think I learned your deep, dark secret, @moropanov.

While they are still winning and are a strong team even without Ovi his production is missed and the 1st line isnt as effective. The PP after a horrible start began to work a little bit before Ovechkin got injured (25 % in his last 10 games before injury and 55,6 % in the last 5 before injury). So the PP started clicking with Ovi in it and kept going without him.

If the PP starts struggling they will really need Ovi's goalscoring back. Dylan Strome has 9 points in 11 games without Ovi and had 28 points in 18 with Ovi. So they will need Ovi back to keep going as I doubt the PP is sustainable at the recent level for the rest of the season.

Good thing he's traveling with the team and should be back in the next week or 2.

Is this sustainable? The Capitals have the league's second-highest shooting percentage at 5-on-5 (11.6%). The even-strength offense is outpacing what their expected goals portends. Their goaltending tandem is making them a better defensive team at 5-on-5 than what the analytics claim.

NHL Bubble Watch: Projecting the playoff hopes for all 32 teams
There’s always a team that the stars align for and they out perform any metrics. I have no doubt the caps can outperform the analytics all season long, they’re Just good. Like the Canucks from last season. So maybe capitals return to earth as just a playoff team next year instead of presidents trophy candidate but I think they’re a lock as a contender this season.

People slept on kings legend Pierre luc Dubois coming in and straightening the team out. He's been a powerhouse and is in the Selke talks.
