I have always loved Dobber Prospects over the last 20 years, their insightful articles and prospect profiles. But it seems like the articles, and the prospect profiles, are few and far between over the last few months. Does anyone know what happened, and is there an alternative, very active hockey prospect site, that is free, that you would recommend? Much appreciated.

Didn't EliteProspects poach a lot of Dobber talent? I could be wrong on that

There has always been a lot of turnover for the individual team scouts. I think a lot of people use Dobber Prospects as a stepping stone to get started in the world of scouting and there has always been an expectation that they would branch out after a year or two of service. Joke Nevalainen (scout with Hurricanes), Hadi Kalakeche (EP), Sebastian High (EP), Victor Nuno (EP and FHL), Cam Robinson (EP) to name but a few.

Currently, I'm not sure how many teams have scouts actively working on profiles. I noticed during their August/September series that quite a few of the team reports left empty, and the main articles have been all but died off. However, the individual prospect reports are still being updated regularly depending on the team that has a scout working on it.

I'm assuming that some of the team spots are simply not filled, which has resulted in inconsistency.

If anyone is interested here, I'm sure they would be happy to have any knowledgeable fan reach out to fill an opening. Peter Harling - he's pretty easy to find on Twitter - is the new managing editor. It's a fun way to track your favourite teams' prospects and you should be able to access some other resources that you'd otherwise have to pay for.
