Depends entirely on the price and term.

We would be foolish to pass up on ~60 points for 1 year at $2.5M or less. Particularly when it's at a position of need.

I understand the theatrics (and perhaps controversy) around the original signing. But from a purely hockey perspective, if the price is right, then yes. If not, no.

I don't for the sheer reason he isn't good enough/the type of player we need for a top 6 spot, and he isn't the type of player than can handle shut down minutes. If he comes back here they'll be trying to shoehorn him back on pp1, that was my only issue with him coming here, the pp just got going with Tarasenko and they pulled him from it.

Unless Kane is willing to sign for 1 mil, there's no scenario where re-signing him makes sense.

No, rather keep Tarasenko for the other top 6 RW spot if we keep any of the UFA deadline acquistions.

Team needs a shooter anyway.

If they keep neither, hoping they'll move someone around so Laf gets in the Top 6. Ride or die with the kids if so.

I didn't want him before the trade deadline; I definitely don't want him now after major hip surgery and being 35 years old. They need speed and you don't get faster the older you get.

At some point you have to stop chasing after aging stars and taking away opportunities from the kids. You need to find out if they can produce at that level for a sustained period; they've never had that chance. A couple of short stints every now and then isn't enough of a sample size. Some of this was the coaching staff; they weren't patient enough. Don't give the coaching staff the ready made crutch to go to the veterans.

This isn't a hard NO or a hard YES for me. But honestly, for the right deal, I'm leaning towards a YES. If only because I just don't have confidence in this team. The rebuild went from 'let's be patient' to 'we should be contending for a Cup' pretty quickly. And I just don't see this team having the right players to do that - and it starts with Peter Panarin. Your top guys have to be your top guys in the playoffs. And I'm not saying that Kane is the savior that some people thought he was. But it sure couldn't really hurt, could it? Especially since Laf has been a Laugh and Kakko has been Krappo.

I wouldn't sign Motte. After successive deadline deals for him, time to try something else. AFAIR, we've been satisfied mostly with Drury's trade deadline moves the last 2 years. The main idea was to supplement the core. The core didn't deliver and it's not on the deadline guys. Also, you have a new staff, so time to stop with the retreads and give the staff some flexibility with personnel choices depending on how they want the team to play.
Pass on Motte. We need a fast and physical 4th line in my opinion. There are reasons Motte is available every year.

I’d lean towards yes as a mid season signing; if for no other reason than he can count as our rental and perhaps prevent us from another ridiculous trade of a first round pick.
