No, need to give our kids a chance.
It's 2023, your bottom 6 isn't just grinders, we need offense from them too. Even if Kakko & Laf play like top 6 players this season which is a tall ask, I don't see how that doesn't fit well. Kane on the 3rd line & PP on a cheap contract would be pretty good, no? What other options do we have there? We don't have much depth on the wings, we need another scoring winger.

Kreider - Zibanejad - Kakko
Lafreniere - Chytil - Panarin
Vesey? - Trocheck - Kane

PP1
Kreider - Zibanejad - Kakko
Panarin - Fox

PP2
Chytil - Trocheck - Kane
Lafreniere - Miller

He’s going to be 35yo, coming off hip surgery. I just don’t think it would work out well.

No. We have Panarin. Panarin needs to be that guy.

We either need size, goal scoring and/or speed at the RW spot. 2 of the 3 to qualify.

We need speed. Game 2 Kane had it. The rest not so much. Bottom line is I don't know.

Shitty poll. What's the term? What's the $? What are the performance bonuses?

Too general. Sorry for the harshness. Been a long day.
I noted in OP about using LTIR, I think it would be a unanimous no on a big contract for him so its definitely with the asterisk of him coming cheap and utilizing LTIR while he gets back up to speed after recovering from surgery

Problem with this is I'd rather do without all these LTIR games---especially something that's so deliberate. If I'm signing a player I want to be able to count on him from the first game of the season to the last game of the playoffs and yeah players get injured but even so you go into a deal with a player with the idea that you can count on him for the entire season.

Kane is also an aging player and he's not the same player he was even a few years ago. Time takes a toll. Getting players at the tail end of great careers more than often than not does not work out well and it's too feel goody. I had some doubts about bringing him in towards the end of last season and his game wasn't all that great. I get the why for trades like that when a team has hopes. I'm not going to shit on Drury for trying to upgrade for the playoffs but it didn't work out as hoped.

HARD no for me. He's just not the player we need even if he were healthy.

We need a forward who goes to the net. And Kane's best days are behind him even with the surgery. I want a young, hungry guy as our #2 RW after Kakko.

Othman? And if they don't deliver right away, which some consider to be more likely than otherwise?
Whether Kane can deliver anything anymore is another matter... He'll be patched up this time around. If he could be a cheap RW option for a time, maybe they'll consider it...
