Zero chance I'm firing Verbeek for one move, even if I hate it. Earliest his leash runs out is after this season. If we aren't at least in the hunt in late March, and there's no meaningful development from key players, then I start considering a change. Has to be time to allow him to implement his plan. When you constantly change GMs, you have dueling plans and no one has time to actually change really anything.

This is the internet sir, there is no room for measured takes and reasoned responses.
You get the hell out!

Not right now but it depends on what he does with the rest of the offseason. He traded Z for a dogass return when we had nothing to lose letting him try to have a bounceback year to rehab his value.

If all we get out of this summer is a bunch or even just a couple of 32+ year olds looking for one last good payday, I'll be pretty pissed.

The z trade/Hiring coach Q/The dud coaching hires/ not getting anything for the ny cap dumps/ the veteran group assembled up to this point (awful the majority of his tenure ) / doubling down on tanking / overall failure of the team to meet expected performance / offering crippling contracts in free agency among others

To me the above factors are all varying degrees of bad and while I understand most of you are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and see it through he has solidly crossed the threshold into firing territory. Particularly for his asset management and the Quenneville hiring

On many levels I appreciate Verbeeks professionalism compared to Murray as well as the whole organizational refresh that happened parallel to his hockey leadership (built out analytics department parallel to the business ops redoing branding/ Oc vibe) and yes he made some very savvy plays like klingberg and kulikov and dadonov so yes he deserves some kudos for creativity but at this point I am easily be ready to move on to someone who is more competent.

What I don't like about Verbeek are his veteran acquisitions. At forward, it's youth teaching the you as opposed to vet sheltering and teaching the youths. Defensively, I liked Gudas in his 3/4th of a first season. Father time caught up with him and reverted him back to a third pairing D. No other vet acquired D played up to Gudas' level, which is a scary admission. If LaCombe was not Gudas' partner, then Gudas' number would look far worse.

Someone else mentioned that if Verbeek didn't want you on his team, then he'd eat cost just to get rid of them. Not great asset mgmt. Lindholm flashed with Boston before getting injured again. Manson helped Colorado win a Cup. Fowler brought St. Louis to the playoffs. Could Z be another former Duck who does well outside the org? (Ofc, Drysdale has been a broken bird for most of his NHL career.)

I thought Verbeek had another two seasons left of careless mistakes before being canned. With a playoff expectation, if Verbeek has the team in a lottery position again, then I hope the owners will move on from Verbeek.
