Do You Think The Oilers Have Done Enough To Help McDrai Win The Cup?

I think if the Oilers want to take a no nonsense push for the Cup they need a top 4 d-man, a goalie, and another top 6 forward unless Podkolzin can become more consistent offensively. I love his game but the Oilers need 1 more player in their top 6 who isn't named Draisaitl and McDavid that can add an offensive spark without them running the show. Arvidsson seems to be coming on and Kane will be back at some point also so they might be solid come playoff time in that area.

They need to go all in at this point. There's no reason to hold back, or cling to futures. It's now or never. Imo they haven't done nearly enough at the deadline over the years. Pittsburgh sold the farm almost every year, but it was worth it.

Them being fourth in the league, tied with the third place team, is enough reason to close the thread. Premise was dumb to begin with. They have nothing else to prove until we get to the playoffs and the TDL is still more than a month away so they can still technically add more.

I suppose klingberg is useful for deflecting from this entirely useless thought exercise.

Considering they've blatantly ignored their largest glaring weakness since signing Campbell, no.

Skinner has had bright spots and even stolen a couple of playoff games, but they're still succeeding mostly in spite of him. If they had a legit gamebreaker in net they'd have at least one cup by now.

Premise wasn't dumb at all, McDrai are two generational forwards who have 1 cup appearance in 10 years, the goaltending and defense has been extremely mediocre in 10 years, the only good acquisition the team has made was Ekholm, Kane and Hyman only came because nobody wanted Kane (hardly an acquisition) and Toronto didn't want to pay Hyman, it's not like Edmonton had some massive foresight or made some big move to get them, they just fell into their lap.

No shit. But don't tell the HF Oil homers that.... The Oilers have the highest scoring D in the league...and they go out and acquire a broken-down, D-version of Jeff Skinner. Management is allergic to upgrading the team where we actually need it. The sad truth is that the team is more likely to get another Sam Carrick at the TDL than another goalie or legit second-pairing D-man. And it doesn't seem like the approved Oilers media is allowed to so much as question our goaltending tandem...
