With this being McDavid's 10th year and the 10th year of McDrai, have the Oilers done enough in your opinion to help arguably the best duo in the league win the cup?
Yeah this was my thinking, even Crosby, Letang, Fleury, Staal and Malkin only won 1 cup before Murray and Kessel showed up. Kessel being a massive and relatively cheap addition.Because of the way those two show up come playoff time it's hard to blame anyone but those around them for them not having a cup yet
One thing I will never argue with a Flames fan with. Management did a magnificent choke job in the last 10 years.Oilers management actively stopped a potential dynasty.
Good riddance though haha
Pens had 106 points in a season both Crosby and Malkin missed the entire second half (10-11). Oilers are in the cellar without McDavid and Draisaitl.Yeah this was my thinking, even Crosby, Letang, Fleury, Staal and Malkin only won 1 cup before Murray and Kessel showed up. Well it helps that the Penguins were tied for the best record before Crosby got hurtPens had 106 points in a season both Crosby and Malkin missed the entire second half (10-11). Oilers are in the cellar without McDavid and Draisaitl.
Management has done a awful job. 10 years in and they're pinning their hopes on Stuart Skinner in goal. Shame we never got to see prime Mcdavid on a truly dominant team.
Oh common... are you not watching tonight stellar Skinner performance?Pens had 106 points in a season both Crosby and Malkin missed the entire second half (10-11). Oilers are in the cellar without McDavid and Draisaitl.

They still played at a 102 point pace without both Crosby and Malkin.Well it helps that the Penguins were tied for the best record before Crosby got hurt
And if Vancouver scored two more goals in round 2, Edmonton would have been eliminated. The league has more parity but a team with McDavid should be better over previous yearsI legitimately don't understand this narrative. If McDavid scored 2 points in game 7 -- which everyone legitimately expected him to -- Edmonton would've won the cup this past summer.
Yes the Nurse contract stinks and it'd be great to have an upgrade in goal, but this is a cup contending roster regardless

They had a lot go right though to get to that point. They likely lose to Vancouver if they weren't on their 3rd string goalie. It took a superhuman performance from McDavid last playoffs and it still wasn't enough.I legitimately don't understand this narrative. Edmonton's best acquisitions have either come from other teams passing on the player (Kane/Hyman) or internal development (Skinner, Bouchard), that said they have arguably the two best players in the game in their prime and they haven't swung for a true bonafide 1G/1D.I legitimately don't understand this narrative. Or add an elite winger. It would keep McDavid and Draisaitl on separate lines and an opponent has to decide which line to try and stop, the line with the elite winger with one of these guys centering them or the line without the elite winger and only one of them. Then again, a guy like Hyman has held his own with McDavid so I think the extra offense could carry them. Imagine what a guy like Forsberg would look like on one of their wings.No... need a tandem goalie and a 2RD for starters
