I want to be optimistic.

His PP production will be there IMO.

His 5v5 production has much more potential

So, yes. He breaks 100

100 points will make people feel good. I doubt it will happen even if he has a good season. The playoffs is where it's at for him this season.

I do not think so and in some ways I'm very fine with him not. I really want to see better 5 on 5 play from our whole team. In some ways I think all the PP points are misleading our team in to being better than they are overall. I do not want to be a team overly dependant on our PP and goalie. I'd like our team to find a way to have more balance.

Two things need to happen for Panarin to hit 100. First is he needs to be healthy and play all 82 games. He would have easily gotten to 100 his first season here if he had played the full season. His 2nd season he was pacing 113 points had he played all 82. Would have probably broke 100 in season 3. Second, he needs a complimentary center a la Ryan Strome, but more of a Ryan Strome+ to access high level Panarin. He's failed 4 seasons to find that chemistry with Zib so unless Chytil breaks out this season a BIG BIG way, I just don't see it happening. We are also talking about an older Panarin - I don't think physically Panarin is showing any wear and tear but mentally, he's not getting stronger. He's never been a mentally strong guy to begin with.

I personally feel that, while his numbers have been relatively stable, the quality of his game has begun to decline. Not that he doesn’t have years remaining as a top producer, but he’s not the force he was. It wouldn’t shock me if he hit 100 points, but I certainly wouldn’t bet on it. Meanwhile, unless his actual game itself looks a lot better, more engaged, more willing to shoot, visit traffic areas, etc. and unless he shows up in the playoffs, I genuinely hope he doesn’t hit 100 points because I’ll never hear the end of “how many 100 point players do we get, you wanna trade him???!!” from the crowd who ignores how a player actually performs and looks on the ice and only cares about what the score sheet says.

75-85 is more realistic. He’s too slow to be effective 5v5 and is at the mercy of an effective power play, which I can’t see improving. So my guess is:

15-25 | 55-65 | 75-85

Depending on his skew toward playmaking.

Panarin has made me realize points are overrated in this league. Have seen players bust their ass in games and can not get a point to save their lives. Here comes Panarin, makes a little pass to Fox who then makes a heads up play on a Mika goal. It’s just not right.

With that said, hope he saves a lot of those points for the playoffs.

Unlikely at this point. Plus he's very dependent on assists, and I just don't see this team having the finishers to get him there even if he comes back far better than last year.

Of course he can but it depends entirely on how many minutes he’s going to play and if the pp keeps having the same success. He scored 2.5 pts/60 at 5v5 last year (better than all but one of his pre NYR years) and is always among the non-edm leaders on the pp. not likely though.
