that doesn't excuse a poor move, and still makes it a bad acquisition

sure but first off, they haven't clinched anything yet...second, why not make it easier for themselves? home-ice is there for the taking
Frederic isn’t moving the needle on home ice with the guys we have out. Just get healthy that’s it. Florida is going through the same thing.

a team with Hyman, Nuge, Bouchard, Skinner, Henrique on it shouldn't lose to a bad Ducks team...enough with the excuses
I'll save him a post. "We got goalie'd".

The supporting cast on this team is frightfully bad. And I get it, losing McDavid and Draisatl takes a lot out of the lineup, but that's no excuse for the depth forwards to go yet another game without scoring.

Kapanen and Jones a combined -6. That says it all, doesn't it?

A team with those guys + McDavid, Draisaitl, Ekholm lost to that team twice and didn’t outplayed them like we did last night. I’m kind of shocked how emotional some of you are over a meaningless game with half the team out. The real games start in a couple weeks. After losing to the kings Saturday there is nothing to play for right now.

Janmark/Brown will still be in the lineup and they don't contribute offensively at all. There's just nothing but black holes in the bottom six and the top six can't produce without McDavid and Draisatl.

Jones/Kapanen were crap acquisitions that lay squarely at the feet of Bowman.

had they won yesterday, they'd have given themselves a chance a home-ice being only 2 points back...there's plenty to play for
Florida won the division last year and it was the difference in the Cup final

There’s no scenario where we have home ice in any round beyond round 1. Are you really that scared of LA?

more than ever...they've gotten better while the Oilers, even when healthy, have gotten worse
sure, I think we should win this series and probably the favorite but they are better than ever
Are they? Kopitar is still their best forward, doughty is still their best D man. Are their special teams any different? Not really. Kuemper has some playoff experience I guess but we’ll see how much that means.

Are we worse? Our D is deeper and better than last year. Our forward core is deeper. We haven’t unleashed our full roster this year. We didn’t even get a game with our full team + deadline acquisitions.

You’re putting way too much stock into the regular season.

yes, they're actually better defensively than last year...2nd in the league this year
Kuemper a big upgrade over Talbot

yes....goaltending is worse, offense is much worse, special teams are worse
our top 4 D is better when healthy but our bottom pairing is worse without Desharnais/Broberg
we ain't "deeper" offensively...every important player on the roster with the exception of Draisaitl is having a worse season than last year

because usually the good regular season teams win the Cup lol
the Oilers are tied for 10th in the league, the last time a team that low in the standings won the Cup were the 2019 Blues (12th), but they were the hottest team in in the 2nd half that year

It would have been nice to get Montgomery after the Bruins fired him but Knob has been fine. No team is firing a coach that made the Cup final and has the team on pace for close to 100 points.

Although for a group on the bubble, there is plenty to play for. Optimally, we will have 4 "new" bodies coming into the lineup come playoff time, as well as a d-man. If I'm in that group, I am going balls to the wall in order to try to stay in the lineup.

I still think we give him another year. Injuries and horrific goaltending by Skinner. Not much another coach in my opinion would do

We were rolling and in first place before the break. Injuries and what not have slowed us down. See what happens in the playoffs now
Imo goalie issues can lead to other issues too. It leads to the team playing worse. This isn't like last year where Skinner got better over time

Agreed. He hasn't had a great coaching year with some questionable decisions, but as you noted, injuries and inconsistent goaltending have hampered him. But he made all the right moves in the playoffs last year, and that should certainly buy him some cred.

I can't disagree with a single thing you said here.

In before Bowman hires his buddy Quenneville.
Honestly I feel like that's been inevitable since last summer. We'll see if it actually plays out, that's who I would put my money on though. Frankly, I'm sure the guys on the team would love it. McDavid in particular strikes me as a guy that really seems to respect veterans and past success. I doubt they'd pay any mind to the controversy surrounding that type of move.
