Do the Ottawa Senators just give up the first pick this year

The Ottawa Senators need to give up their first round because of the Dadonov trade f*** up.

The Ottawa Senators are in the playoffs and that pick is likely in the mid twenties, do the Ottawa Senators, say f*** it and give up the years pick and get it over with.

You never know what is going to happen next year, this is a shit gong that is hanging over the team, I hope they just get rid of it, this year.

lol at shit gong, that’s a good combo I haven’t heard before. And sure, trade your pick or whatever the deal is.

Bettman should have told Andlauer that the grievance was looming and that the team would be punished; the news of punishment came after the team was sold. Its actually very similar to the Dadnov trade, information was witheld until the deal was completed.

No.

In a deal it's always the seller's responsibility to disclose possible issues with whatever they are selling. In both cases the seller was Ottawa. Actually, in both cases the person responsible for correct disclosure could have been Dorion. Andlauer did not make it clear who from the Sens office told him "it's a non-issue" about the investigation. It very well could have been Dorion.

This is on the league. It's their responsibility to keep the game's integrity in place, which includes the integrity of trades.

It's operations 101.
What's the point of having a centralized governing body if they, the NHL, can't handle essential record keeping?

Should we let the teams decide players' stats for the year as well?

This seems like a no-brainer to me.

The league should take responsibility for the oversight, reverse the penalty, and issue a press release with a plan (a central database of staff and player contracts) to assure something so stupid can't happen again.

As for NTC, you don't need to list the teams on the NTC, but you should damn well know that a player has the clause in their contract.

We're not flipping houses here. We're talking about the integrity of the game.

The only way I could see it not giving up this year's 1st would be if they're hoping that the nhl could change their mind just like they did with nj with the kovalchuk contract (moving the 1st to 30nd instead of no 1st)
