Do the Oilers make the playoffs this year?

Will they make it?

Hard to say with that goaltending and defence helps them make the playoffs.

I haven't seen him play well over 50 games.

So, will Smith gonna play well in the other 40?
He played the 12th most games among goalies 2 years ago, with 55.

I don't think the Oilers goaltending situation is great by anyways, but I also think Koskinen is a lot better than what he is given credit for.

They were in a playoff spot before the NHL decided not to hurt loser teams feelings. So yes they will.
I fail to see the logic here. Because they were in a playoff position 70 games into 2019-20, they'll make the playoffs in 2020-21?

well the roster is either unchanged or upgraded.

The exception is Klefbom's injury, replaced with Barrie.

Big upgrades at forward though.

You're right. They'll probably miss while having the 4th best record in the new Canadian division.
Meh, Jets would be the best but after them it would be a crapshoot if there is an all Canadian division.
Its a tossup between EDM, CGY, MTL,VAN and TOR.

I see the leafs, habs, and probabaly flames/canucks as being better teams, so I'm gonna go with no. They were only in a playoff spot last year because of the pacific

I think they do, whether it's an all Canadian division or the Pacific. Both are pretty weak and if McDavid and Draisaitl can run their own lines with success like they did in the new year, they should be a solid team.

I think it's far from a given though. People keep focusing on them being in the playoffs last year when the season paused, but it's not as if they had a firm grip on a playoff spot. They were 12th in the league in points percentage and the difference between them and they were pacing for only 4 more points over 82 games than the Jets who were 9th in the West. Their goal differential was only 15th, and that was with the 4th best PP% of all time which won't be repeated again. They're also going to miss Klefbom.

They added some nice depth pieces and if Yamamoto is the real deal and someone like Puljujarvi can step into the top 6, Barrie rebounds and they get above average goaltending, they could actually be one of the top teams, but if McDavid and Drai end up on an island again, the goaltending faulters and the PP can't bail them out, they could end up in the bottom 10 again. They probably have one of the widest range of outcomes in the league imo.

That makes no sense. They were 4th in the West at stoppage and 9th overall. They were one of the best teams in hockey after NYE. It wasn't because of their division.
