Do the Florida Panthers have a claim to be the most hated team in the league right now?

I thought it was called pop in the south.
No, it’s soda down here, pop up north. A coke is a come though.
I don’t hate the panthers because of any of these reasons you listed.

I hate the panthers because their fans pretend that Zito is an amazing GM that can convince players to sign for less money
Nope, we recognize that he’s a great GM because he listens to his scouts, brings in guys who fit the team’s identity and often need a chance to find/come back to their game, is willing to make trades that include high picks and prospects, brought in Tkachuk for a guy who wouldn’t have gotten it done here, AND convinces guys to take “team friendly deals” to keep the Cup window open.

I love that he’s hated for “taxes” instead of our style and a couple guys on the team by people looking for an excuse as to why their team overpays…which other Panther GMs have many times in the past.

Haha! Nice try!

I have a soft spot for Vegas. The Caps had some quite nice times there. And I've lots of good memories of McPhee. But no.

I also always had a soft spot for Vegas. Being a Coyotes fan, they were our desert brothers. The model franchise for how to make hockey work in a “non-traditional” market. Something the Coyotes never had. Now that the Coyotes are gone though, f*** ‘em. :P

I have a bit of a soft spots for the caps. He plays goalie and I miss him . That and it was a good first season, I have no qualms about it being the caps who put a stop to us.
You're right, that's definitely another one. Much about this season doesn't make a lot of sense in DC, but Thompson is a big part of how they've cobbled together their run. There are too many reasons for Caps fans to like Vegas, damnit.

Hate them? More like want to be them. We got Frederic and they got Marchand. I'm jealous. We have skinner and they have Bob. Eklblad is just resting up for a playoff run. Tkachuk knows how to win. f*** the Panthers.. but in the highest form of respect.lol

I can't see it, yet anyways.

The teams that are the most "hated" are the bigger and more established ones in the league. You hate the team cause your dad and granddad hated that team, or a good stretch of playoff rivalries in the "good ole days".

Or when a team does what the Pats or Chiefs are doing, NFL reference, of always making the final round most years.

Dallas Cowboys gets flack, even though they've been irrelevant superbowl wise for 30+ years, with no chance of improvement with the Dunce(s) owning the team.

Florida has been around for 32 years, with a large stretch of being a doormat/joke.

Maybe if Brady were to strong arm his way to FL, and Florida makes the finals a few more times in 2-3 years then I could see some real annoyance from others about the Panthers.

My dislike for them is obvious. They own us. They owned us to the point where we tried to make a team just to counter them in the offseason and instead, we became more vulnerable to them (and we suck). I also don't like Sam Bennett after he sucker punched his now-teammate.

Watching them play other teams is very fun though. They're a well-oiled machine and I appreciate the hockey they display. Tampa looks good this year though so I'm hoping we get Battle of Florida again and I hope this one goes to 7. Cheese

Toronto are the 7th most popular team on Facebook (Boston #1) and 3rd for social media as a whole (Chicago #1)

Across the league they definitely have the biggest fanbase. I dont think social media followers is the best barometer to use.

People that hate Oilers and Leafs seem to pay more attention to them then their own team
I think people hate them in a kind of we wish nothing but the worst for them. People hate the Panthers because they’re chippy and tough to play against. The leafs are more just unlikable as athletes in general. The leafs just come across as entitled dorks.

Lol, no.

Whoever plays on team currently (and will be gone in 5 years) is irrelevant. They are not big enough to be universally hated (although recent success made them bigger than 5 years ago, and they even have inr-state rivals, which helps their hateability, but still not enough).
