Do Shootout Wins Feel Satisfying to You?

I've never found them that satisfying. They just don't feel the same as regulation or OT wins. I know some consider three on three OT kind of gimmicky, but I'll take an OT win every day of the week over a SO win.

Also, shootout losses don't really sting that much. They leave somewhat of a bitter taste in my mouth, but I basically say, "meh... f*** shootouts" and shrug them off.

TOR hasn't had a SO this season, and I hope that doesn't change. :)

I was excited for the introduction of the shootout back in 2005, but it didn't take me long to develop a dislike for shootouts.
OT/SO wins and losses are all meh to me but getting the bonus point especially against conference opponents are helpful.

Hasn't the shootout frequency been greatly reduced? As a Leafs fan, I have yet to see one this season in all of the games I watched. Every once in a while, I think they are ok. If I watch my own team have 2 or 3 all season, it's fine. No issues.

Even 3 on 3 OT doesn't feel satisfying but it's better than a shootout. Bring back tie games. Shootouts bring people out of their seats and draw in new fans so Bettman is happy.

im confused (its often me ..)

So .. you are against people being soo excited they get up out of their seat?

and youre against drawing in new fans?

---------------------------------

I assume people hating on it are the people that dont actually go to games.

Its fun

Its an extra little skills competition that you get to watch before you go home

Its like a restaurant offers you a free desert after dinner

Its just 10 mins of fun

Im relieved to gain the extra point, but the shootouts on its own give me zero joy or excitement.

I know its for the kids, but cant they like do that stuff on intermission between 1st and 2nd period or something. It has way too big effect for something thats just not interesting or has anything to do with actual hockey.

Even players mostly look dis-engaged for it.

It takes a very particular set of circumstances for a shootout win to have that satisfaction.

Rivalry game in a must win contest. Maybe some officiating bullshit throughout the night, mixed with some chippiness. A nice come back to get to OT/SO. Then a walk off goal to end it.

Without all of those things it's just nice to get 2 points, but I'm not feeling the warm fuzzies for it.

If my team is in a secure playoff spot, I don't care that much how the shootout ends. If I'm not watching my team, I switch to another game as soon as OT ends.

I cheer when my team gets the extra point in OT/SO, but I'd cheer exactly the same if they got the second point by winning a slapshot contest, or by throwing darts. The real game ended in a tie; OT/SO is nothing but a fun contest for that second point. Don't get me wrong – I still find it entertaining, but winning a gimmick doesn't mean the better team won.

Satisfying? About as satisfying as a $100 hooker. The immediate gratification is there but then you have to put your pants back on and go home to your wife.

For regular season. I don't mind at all.

I get some want to play to the death but I've seen many a triple OT and those are usually shitty periods of hockey.

Shootouts is a skills competition
And so is 3 on 3.

At home with the goal horn blaring is the final key to the puzzle of making it satisfying.

i've haven't watched a shootout since the 2012-13 season nor seen any replays or highlights whatsoever. at that point it's whether the game is one or two points in the standings. i don't feel like i'm missing anything.

I turn off the game and switch to another. I legit would rather have a tie, it makes more sense imo. Always ruins the game when it goes to a shootout
