I would most definately claim him. And for people who keep saying how we are making always such a big think out of marginal players.....it says a lot about the management when you have a big enough sample to make such a claim..

You need guys like that. Good size, good skater, good on PK to rest you star players from playing there....What people call marginal are STILL valuable players to a team. And DLR brought things we didn't have enough of. We are the smaller team in the league...and we give up on DLR. Mindboggling. But not surprising. Will he be claimed? I think he will. I most definately think he should.

And it's not because we talk about him that we think he is SUDDENLY going to explode into a 1st line Centerman. I know I'm not. He is what he is. But what he is....we would have needed. Look at it the way you want.....as tons of ''marginal'' guys some thing we have....we have 0 guys like him. Speed and size and PK specialist. Poehling shouldn't be that. You hope to god he won't be. Who else? Pleks retires next year. So it leaves us with Peca.

I hope he isn't claim to see Joel work with him. That's for sure. Hoping the heart incident will scare some teams.

I like him but he is the poster child of what happens when you bring up players before they are ready. I think he clears because of his one way contact status.
A big body who can skate and has good defensive awareness.

Every team has a DLR on their roster somewhere. I doubt he gets claimed

Yes. Yes they will.
The thing is is who? Only one I see they would risk exposing is Rinaldo. Possible but they have used him every game- seems like they want the grit element, DLR does not provide that. I expect someone may claim him but I doubt its Nashville

We should honestly stop with this whole 4th liner thing around here, this team has four 2/3 lines and a ton of guys are interchangeable on any given night.

The fourth line is exactly where his goals came from. It's where he's played every single game.

He's definitely a player who can move up and down the line-up like a lot of guys. But so far, he's been on the fourth line. And that's where he scored his goals.

When reading a previous thread on who would be waived in the event a trade wouldn't materialize, there were a lot of posters who pitted DLR against Scherbak as the likely candidates. Makes you wonder how close it may have been between Scherbak and DLR when the final decision came.

I expect a waive & trade to happen. Some team has to be interested, as long as they can send him to the minors.

This was exactly what happened to Jacob Olofsson. He cleared waivers in Minnesota and was traded as soon as he did. This way, Montreal could send him to Laval without needing to place him on waivers themselves.

I'm not upset he's on waivers as he's replaceable. It just sucks because I hoped he would be a stud 3rd liner and part of the core. I'm more upset we didn't draft/develop well again.

Bergevin is an idiot could have traded him last year this off season but the idiot gets nothing for a former high second round pick same for Fucale he did the same thing with Tinordi and McCarron he will get nothing for him to and still nobody fired.

Yup. They've been the least used players every single game. In fact, aside from last night, Hudon had the lowest TOI in the other four.
Fine, but usually when people hear 4th line it equals to bad players...

This is not the case with this team IMO.

I can deal with losing DLR (I would have preferred keeping him over Plekanec but it's terrible timing) but if we put Scherbak on waivers I'll be PISSED. The kid can help us on the PP big time. Dano being on waivers just a few days ago, could help him squeeze through. I could see CBJ (Dubinsky) or ANA claiming him with their injuries up front.

I agree. My "fourth liner" post was in reply to someone who said Hudon should've been waived over DLR. and while I'm a fan of DLR, Hudon offers more. And he's offered more as a "fourth liner" having two goals in five games.

It's finally happened..now we finally can stop these pathetic arguments of how DLR was a supposed "steal of the draft!" and how "he still has untapped potential!" and "decent trade value!"

He was never anything more than a scrub and another in a long line of draft day busts. Is Timmins fired yet?

(P.S. I predict the same fate for our other "draft day steal" Olofsson.)

I struggle to remember a player that half the fanbase thinks is forgettable and half seems to adore.

I'm in the forgettable camp. He said himself during camp before his cardiac event he was disappointed in his own play compared to others, and he lost his place in the lineup. That simple.

Hope he clears. I think he has the ability to be a 3C. He's never going to become a top six guy but if you put him with the right wingers he can contribute.

De La Rose never really showed any glimpses of being a good player. This was the right move.

I don't agree. He did everything asked of him after the trade deadline last year, and more.

He helps the team in more ways than Scherbak, but two other considerations may be at work:
  • Scherbak is more likely to be claimed, and that is because.....
  • Scherbak has a slight chance to have a big upside, but that slight chance may entice other teams, and the Habs too
Given that he played well end of last year and got a two year deal from MB, could it be that despite getting two points in 4 pre-season games, his overall play in camp did not overly impress, and could that be because whatever heart ailment he has affected his energy level in practices?

My guess is he gets claimed by the team we just beat

Whom he scored against at over 1.0 PPG last year, LOL
